this is a fantastic book proving a great insite into the work of a physisist aswell as inspring a new generation. What could be said to be aimed at lay people is also fantasticaly engaging for those with a higher understanding of physics. Wonderful, inspirational and simple explantations for modern scientific reaserch was provided.I beleive it would be engaging for all age groups 14+ the age rating just because of the lower interest in physics from younger people and the basic understanding of physics required to be inspired by it coming in small amounts from what is typicaly learned at that age such as "clasical mechanics" or "astrophysics" etc.little to no mathematics so purly consepts discussed making it very easy to follow.

The book is exceptional but some copies of this book do not contain the picture inserts.

His Lectures on YouTube were superb, I have to use the past tense because certain historical complaints were made and predictable but hysterical and Nazi like repercussions ensued against him. His lectures were taken down and he was as guilty as the blackest villain ever known. (At a stage that in Law there had been no test of evidence no trial full stop)In my opinion now the dust is settling can I ask for an historical perspective be taken of his monumental contribution to knowledge and especially the joy of physics, will "his" university rehabilitate him before he dies?

Professor Lewin is a gifted teacher. This book compliments the video lectures at MIT ( Physics 8.01 ).Learning is such a pleasant experience with this man. No wonder he is so popular ( I believe a million hits on Youtube ).He explains about his upbringing in Nazi occupied Holland and his pioneering work in X-ray astronomy.I thoroughly recommend this book and to view the lectures.

You will really enjoy this book even if you are not a physicist. You will never look at a rainbow in the same way again! Look up his lectures on Youtube and you will see how outstanding he is at teaching.

This book gave me an insight into physics. It is not a simple book but it makes a difficult subject accessible. There are some good references to his lecture videos and other websites, such as NASA picture of the day.

This man is a living legend. He keeps inspiring me for the love of physics..
