Nice “Set” to Have or Cute for Gifting!
This is a very nice “mini” Mahjong “Set” that I plan on keeping, though it would also make a very cute gift. It comes with an approx. 17” square play mat (edges are a bit wonky on sizing, but not enough to bother me). One side of mat is like a fake sueded soft leather-ette surface, & other is a soft, black felted-knit —I think either side could easily be used. Edging looks rather “cheap”, BUT is nicely hemmed & sewn. There are supposed to be 4 mini 1/2” dice, however mine came with 8 (nice to have extras!); they also include a small (2.5”x1.5”) pink velvety drawstring bag to hold the dice. Dice are “etched” and colored. Nice. There are 144 mini mahjong tiles (approx 1”x .75”x.5”) in a decently-weighted smooth melamine finish, with colorful designs “etched” into the tiles (NOT just printed on!). Tiles are easy to read and have a solid medium-blue base with soft curved edges. They feel nice in hand. The set also includes a storage/travel bag to keep everything together inside. It kind of reminds me of a child’s lunch bag! The bag (approx 8”L x 5.5”x 7”H) has a woven/nylon type exterior with a quilted,foil-lined interior (for keeping things “cold inside”??). The med-blue bag has a cute anime-type panda printed in one side, 2 grey-webbed top handles, and a zipper closure across the top. The bag arrived pretty wrinkled and wouldn’t stand or stay open, but after I used a steamer on it for 15min, it looks SO much cuter and now holds its upright shape.I would say my only disappointments with the set is that, (1) they don’t include a seperate bag to put just the tiles in. I mean they can obviously just be poured into the tote bag (that’s why they include it!), but I’m such a stickler for keeping “pieces” together, that I’m afraid one could accidentally just fall out of the oversized panda bag! I will find my own bag, or use a ziplock for the tiles, just to keep things neater inside. The dice came with their own bag, which I like very much. And (2), there are NO instructions, rules, or ANY printed matter to explain the game and how it is played. Yes, you can look it up online but it’s always kind of nice to have some instructions, so phones don’t “have” to come out!! Neither disappointment would keep me from purchasing this set though.I have always wanted to learn this game and look forward to sitting down with the family and playing it together! I love how cute it looks on our game shelf, it’s manageable size, quality appearance, and how easy it is to “grab & go” with it too. It looks like it will last a long time! Recommend.

Cute
Cute little game. Not as effortless as playing on a phone or iPad lol but still fun. I wish there was a better quicker way to stack them back up but I don’t think it’s possible. It’s a lot like Jenga—meaning, you are stacking little blocks up, in order to play your game. The actual game is super fun, it’s basically a matching game. Would make a perfect gift for people of all ages. It comes with a little carrying bag too, which is nice!

a nice, basic Chinese mahjong set
This is a good, basic Chinese mahjong set. Nothing fancy, but a good deal for the price. The tiles are, of course, plastic. But the characters are painted on evenly, and more importantly, they're actually embossed into the tiles, not just painted on the surface. That should help with longevity.Mine came with two sets of dice -- four dice in a pink cloth bag, and another four dice loose in the box.The storage bag is cute, and oddly seems to have a bit of a thermal lining in it – so when people say that you could use it as a lunch bag, they really aren't kidding. It had a bit of a smell to it upon opening, but I'm assuming that will air out after a bit. The table cover is large and while again, it's nothing fancy, it will do the job.Worth noting for anyone that doesn't speak/read Chinese, these do not have any western characters on them beyond the numerals on the flower tiles. So you will have to learn a few of the Chinese characters to be able to play with these. Not so many that it should be much of a problem, though. The only thing lacking is a guide to the game rules, but that should be easy enough to find on the internet.Overall, a great value for the price!

Complete travel mahjong set
This is a really nice kit if you are looking for a travel set, or as a gift. It includes the tiles, a carrying bag/case, 8 dice with a bag, and a playmat. Instructions/rules are not included, so you might want to print those out and put them in the case. Also, since this is a Chinese Mahjong set, you may want to print out a sheet explaining the tiles if you mainly speak English. There is a bit of an odor with the set, but it has pretty much dissipated after about 5 days of being open.As for the components, the tiles are great. They are small, but not too small and still have some weight to them. They feel good in your hand and work just like regular tiles. As a nice surprise, they are etched instead of just printed, which is great at this price range. Since they are the most important part of the set, I'm really glad they are so nice. The bag is good and has plenty of room for the whole set. The dice are good as well, though since there is still some room in the bag I decided to throw in some full-size dice because I like how they feel more. Finally, the playmat, which is the weakest part of the set in my opinion. The material isn't great, and it doesn't lay flat, no matter what I try. I imagine the reason why they chose this mat is because its thin and can fold up easily, but it just doesn't work well. I prefer just playing directly on a table instead of using it. That said though, its just a small part of the set, and probably the least important. Great set for the price.
