Engaging book. Admiration and butter sweet
A great book. Seems to be well researched. Engaging chapters. I felt a deep sense of gratitude and a sense of loss towards the end of the book.Highly recommended.

Solid and satisfying
It's been awhile since I've found myself so drawn in by a book -- I found it impossible to put down and read it in just over a day. Well paced, nicely balanced, easy to read and thoroughly engrossing. Answers a lot of questions about this enigmatic figure. A solid addition to the "Band of Brothers" canon. The bulk of the book covers Speirs' World War II exploits with Dog and Easy companies of the 506th PIR, 101st Airborne, but that's likely what you're most interested in anyway. Still, there's plenty that's new and well researched, about his life after WWII. It may not answer all your questions but nevertheless is a thoroughly satisfying read.

The best view
This book was very hard to put down and was prone to marathon reading periods. It was fascinating, well written and documented. I learned a new depth about Ronald Sprite inspired by the glimpse of his life in war within the Band of Brothers. I highly recommend this book.

The Man, The Myth, The Legend that is Ronald Speirs
Fierce Valor tells the story about perhaps the most mysterious and legendary man to have served in Easy and Dog Company, Ronald Speirs, a man who made a name and reputation for himself in combat and was the subject of several stories and his exploits.Jared Frederick and Erik Dorr are informative in their words. Fierce Valor is a well-researched and thought out book that helps shed light on the man, the myth and the legend that is Ronald Speirs. There were lots of new things I learned that answered lots of questions I still had about Speirs after first watching Band of Brothers. Some of the things I learned were Speirs was in command of Easy Company the longest out of the other Commanding Officers, he made four combat jumps throughout his military career (Two in WWII and two in the Korean War) and why he didn’t want to be involved with the filming process for Band of Brothers to name a few. It’s safe to say Speirs led an interesting and fascinating life.If you were ever curious to know more about Speirs, Fierce Valor is the book for you! This book gave me a newfound respect for Speirs both as a combat leader and as a person.

Lt. Spiders Band of Brothers
What a great warrior! Why was he so reluctant in latter years of his life? A true military time capsule that will never ever be seen again.

Could not put it down
This book was great. Period. I highly recommend it to any WWII buffs.I was stationed in Germany in 1970…..only 25 years from the end of the war. I wish now I had done more research. 25 years to a 23 year old seemed like a long time. It was not.My wife and I have visited most of the areas mentioned in this book and will again in the summer of 2023 on a special tour. The BERCHTESGADENER HOF mentioned in the book was still a US Military hotel in 1970. We stayed there among all the history. It has now been torn down. We have been to the Eagle’s Nest, the ruins of Hitler’s home and inside the bunker below. I have sand from Omaha Beach. Bottom line: Visit these places in person. You will have all the more respect for the Greatest Generation and men like Ronald Speirs. One other piece of advise: If you have a family member that is a combat vet try to get them on tape telling their story. You will be glad you did. I regret not doing this with my WWII P51 pilot father-in-law.
