I've setup a lot of cameras similar to this one, and what separates this one from the others is that this one has has some features specifically designed for babies. I'm referring to baby crying detection and ten lullabies. I wasn't able to test those features out because I don't have a baby in the house, but I was able to test out the more standard surveillance features.This camera was a snap for me to connect to my WiFi; my router is configured to use both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Actually surveillance cameras work better off of 2.4 GHz because the signal passes through walls better and has more range than 5 GHz.The app is easy to navigate. Like most similar cameras, this one has a motion sensor to detect movement. Unlike most other surveillance cameras, this one operates on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi bands, but in my opinion it's best to use 2.4 GHz and configure your router to use both settings. The reason is 2.4 GHZ passes through walls better and has more range.The color night vision is pretty cool. Most other cameras I've tested have only had black and white.Like most other similar cameras, this one can record video to a micro SD card or to a cloud service. One reviewer claimed the camera stopped recording when she closed the app, but I think the reason for her problem was probably because she didn't enabled permissions correctly on her phone. Some permissions on cell phones can be set to give the app access to the camera all of the time, but you can also select the option to give it access only when using the app. I really believe that was her problem, yet she knocked off a few stars which may not have been justifiable. Of course I'm only guessing, but I think its a logical guess her cell phone permission settings was her problem.This camera may not be the best for someone who doesn't have a baby in the house.This camera is selling for about double the price of many other similar cameras that don't offer baby features, color night vision and connectivity to both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. If you don't really need any of those three features (like me), it might be better for you to choose a different less expensive camera. As it is this camera works as advertised, so what you receive should accurately match the photos and item description of this listing.

I tried several times, and I did not get the camera to pair to the app.Also, during setup the nightvision lights came on. They are very bright, which is not good for babies eyes that may look right at it. If you get this to work it could be a security cam, but definitely not a baby monitor cam.

We set this up in our 16 month old's playroom so we can keep an eye on him from other areas of the house. It's nice to be able to hear and talk to him through the monitor, and the sound and picture are very clear. I also like that you have the option to take photos and videos. After reading some of the other reviews, I was happy to discover that the monitor was easy for me to set up and the app has been user friendly for the most part. The one issue I've encountered is that it can sometimes be challenging to connect to the camera. I'm not sure if it's an issue with the app, the camera itself, or our wifi. Usually restarting the app or clicking the "try again" button resolves this after one or two attempts. I've also found that pressing the button on the camera first usually leads to a successful connection (could be that you need to "wake up" the device before connecting).

This camera has the features we wanted with a nice interface. The picture is clear, though it defaults to black and white a bit sooner than some others we use.In only playing around with some of the notifications setting a bit, it seems to interpret a wide range of noises as crying. In one instance, the dryer running in the hallway was enough for it to think there was a baby (none to be found in the room at the time) crying.My biggest concern, and what has currently cost the camera three stars, is its reliability. Its first real test came during a date night for my wife and I. We went out to dinner and had the app open and placed on our table. After about 30 minutes, it completely went offline. Checking our other devices showed internet was still working at home and a text to our babysitter confirmed nothing changed in his room.After refreshing the app every so often it came back online 45 minutes later. For something like a baby monitor, reliably is going to come above all other features and, so far, this one has missed the mark.

The camera that was shipped to me looked like it was used as everything was opened so one less star for that. The product is okay for its price.
