I love this chunky mix for all my house plants. I added other soil into the mix but this helps a lot with drainage

Moldy product, which can be a health hazard.
This product arrived a few days late. Then when I opened it found out it was mostly reddish bark, no stone like material like the bonsai material I am familiar with. More importantly it smelled like mold. The sticker said it was from China. So it was likely held up on some ship in dampness (but it was dry on delivery). It definately was moldy. Wouldn't have ordered if I realized it was from China.

The product is as described!
I don't know much about medium for bonsai but it came in a rugged plastic bag. There was no smell. There was some dust. It easily poured. I bought it as a beginner bonsai enthusiasts but I have had no problems with my plants in this soil. It seems to be working fine for me. I was a little skeptical about putting a baby plant right into just this medium so I mixed potting soil with it. I am having fun with a bonsai kit. That had everything to start with seed, containers etcetera. It was advertised as suitable for succulent plants but I have not used it for that as of yet.

All bark.
Mostly pine bark fines. Not an even blend. If that’s what you want, fine. But that’s not what I was looking for. Sorry I bought 20 qts - I’m blending it with some Aoki for junipers.
