Thought I got a dud but it was just user error
Having an EE Background I know that dc light emitting diodes(led) are required to be correctly polarized (positive and ground) for it emit light but I missed that step and thought I got 2 defective lights. My number one suggestion is once you have placed these in the socket make sure they work before reinstalling the socket into the light fixture. If it doesn’t work pull the bulb straight out of the socket rotate it 180 degrees (turn it upside down) and reinsert the bulb and check again. Overall I am happy to never have to replace this bulb again because it is a pain in the butt to get to and it will out last the beater it is installed in. It is bright enough to see in the day but unfortunately isn’t bright enough to wake up the distracted driver behind you, but then again I don’t think any street legal bulb could do that.

Compatible with 2015 Toyota Camry LE tail lights
I ordered this without noticing the online reviews that cautioned against replacing incandescent bulbs with LED lights. So I was a little apprehensive about the bulbs not working properly in my 2015 Camry LE (either hyperblinking or giving a console error). Neither of them happened. Another plus in my book (or minus for others) is that the lights are not much stronger than the original incandescents, so they shouldn't bother the other drivers. However, their hue is different from the incadescents (which are more yellowish), hence one has to replace both tail lights, even if only one is burnt out.Very easy to replace on the Camry, just google the video about it. The one thing I would do differently though, next time, is to buy a long-life version. Although I am sure even this one will last much longer than the 25,000 miles the incandescent lasted.

Very dim compared to other regular incandescent brake light. Really quite useless as a brake light.
I was looking for a replacement brake light that would last the life of the car. Unfortunately, this bulb appears about a tenth as bright as the original incandescent which makes it completely useless as a brake light. Besides the power being much lower than the incandescent, the main problem is that the LED emitters only transmit out the end of the bulb instead of out the sides like the incandescent filament, completely missing the brake housing reflectors. I should have taken a photo, but there is no question this is much dimmer than a regular bulb.

Make sure you know if your vehicle will accept these.
Bought the red led lights to replace a burned out taillight and turn signal. If you just need these as your taillights and brake lights you might be fine, they looked good and were bright, buy not as bright as the halogen they were replacing. The problem was with them also functioning as the turn signal bulbs. My car did NOT recognize them and would flash them as if one was burned out. They worked but the car did not "sense" them due to the lack of resistance from them being LED and not a normal bulb.

New style less bright than old style
I bought 1 set for my Scion xA, which worked nice. That one was with 6 leds each on 3 sides of the bulb, which was very bright at daytime when on the brakes. Bought a second set a year later, but got the new style with only 4 leds in the top under a red dome. With the lights on, I hardly see a difference when I apply the brakes. Wish Philips had used a different number for the new style and still make the old one.

The LED layout is great meaning they cast light in a pleasant looking way ...
Not very bright! These are maybe a 1/3 as bright as the original rear turn signal lights on my 2017 Chevy Volt Gen 2. The LED layout is great meaning they cast light in a pleasant looking way when installed in the housing but they are just not bright enough. For my Chevy Volt Gen 2 2017 and later they do "cause" rapid flashing, a resistor is needed. They do illuminate more quickly and cut off faster than the standard lights.Referring to Philips 7443A AMBER Ultinon LED.friendly tipChevy Volt Gen 2 2017: high beam 9005; Turn signal 7443NA; Brake 7443 (r/red?or clear?); reverse 7440; License plate 5W5 LL / alternate 194W worked fine.I am happy with their license plate led light replacements, (194W LED) I'll be testing this for my trunk soon as well.I'd like to test the red brake light 7443 (r/red?or clear) replacements but I'm concerned if they will be bright enough.

Illuminates wonderfully!
Philips quality is better than most other brands - this item is no exception. I had installed a quality aftermarket red LED unit for my brake lights about 10 years ago which were much larger and had leds in every direction. That setup was functional but unfortunately projected light which is not needed for brake lights. The Philips setup does not project light out, but illuminates the brake light housing (much easier on the eyes for other drivers). Also these bulbs are a little smaller in size than the typical current aftermarket LED units. Again, if you want a projecting right light, do not purchase these, but for illumination of a housing, these are perfect.
