Great product, very easy to use

I am recently converted to e-biking. I won a decent electric mount bike and like to go out riding with my mate, who is fitter than me but who is also left behind sometimes when I am powering uphill.I have never heard of a Bike Tow Rope System before and I don't know what I expected when I ordered this but it wasn't this.It comes boxed with just 2 straps, attaching it is easy - one strap around the seat post and the other to the saddle rails. The tow rope is on a sprung reel inside the black housing and has a double hook to fit over your towed friends handlebars. The hook and main body are made of hard plastic, so if you are anything like me then you will want to carry a spare cloth of rubber strips to make sure that it doesn't leave a mark (I haven't tested if it would but I also wouldn't take that chance). The tow rope feels substantial enough for the job it's intended for and it seems it is 8 foot long as claimed.I would definitely not attach the main body of the tow system to the bike being towed - there would be no way to detach quickly from the tow.In use, and after a little practise, it actually works surprisingly well. The reel does wind in if your friend starts to catch you up and you do need to remember you are towing when going up trails with windy bits and trees etc.I can see this being very useful for taking your enthusiastic child on a trail with you, I have used this and will use it again - but there's no way I am towing my mate every time, he needs to buy his own e-bike, lol.But I will definitely be packing is for all days out, because you never know when you will need something like this. I have been 4 miles out of nowhere with a mate who did his ankle ligaments in and this would have been a lifesaver. As it was one of us had to push his bike with him on it and the other had to ride with 2 bikes - it was not fun.Now, as for price......at £18.99 this is middling for very similar products, I haven't tried them but I have tried this. I would get this again if I was looking for another one, but I hope to not have to use it too much.

Good idea for kids, but unfortunately, this was for a childs handlebar, and the handlebar attachment does not clip over an adult's 35mm handlebar. The clip is not open enough to safely grip the bar.

Hi, it’s a good idea as my son isn’t the best bike rider, I’ve got it to try and help him maintain a speed or distance behind 1 of us, it’s just a retractable so no locking on it, which is probably safer, it’s a fairly cheap looking product, I’ve not seen this before, but checking on line it’s a few quid overpriced here, it’s a simple design that easily connects to either bike, with either Velcro straps and a hook 😀
