Q: Is this hot enough to bend steel reinforcing bars at a right angle, please?

I've never tried this but I will say it produces a very hot flame and it's also a very small neat flame, it might be able to heat 1/2 steel but I doubt it would do anything bigger, and would probably use a lot of gas.

Q: My torch is leaking gas from the hole in the handle at only 20 months old, i have tried emailing dickie dyer about it and got no reply. what next???

Dickie dyer has been bought out by Toolstream you have to contact them which is difficult but not impossible.

Q: Mine is not igniting. Please can someone explain the way it should work? There is no spark, just a noise of gas escaping. Thanks

Try turning the gas flow to low then operate the trigger to ignite. When lit keep the trigger depressed and press the trigger lock. Then open gas flow fully. If this doesn't work maybe the ignition circuit is defective.

Q: The nozzle glows bright red hot after less than a minute using a standard propane gas cartridge - never seen this before - is my sample faulty?

have you got the gas pressure knob on the back turned up to maximum? as I own the Rothenburger one, and if you reduce the flame, even my one glows red hot, but on full power even after ten minutes of burning, does not glow. but also could the gas your using, as i only use mapp gas to. please do let us know if any of these changes help.
