Was given a gift like this last year, enjoyed having a “little “ puzzle to do everyday instead of the whole thing! Really like this concept, wish they would do this with other puzzles during holidays as Valentine day, Easter, ect.

I’ve loved making Jigsaw Puzzles since I was a child. In the last year, my puzzle-making urge has returned, and I ended up purchasing a puzzle board for my office. I’m getting serious about this! LOL!!!This is the first year I have seen jigsaw puzzles as Advent Calendars, but I do think it is a really creative and fun idea! Instead of giving the kids candy during Advent, give them puzzles!This puzzle is divided into 49-piece sections, which are then packaged into 24 smaller, decorative boxes, one to be opened and completed on each day of Advent. For anyone who does not know, Advent starts on December 1st and goes on through December 24th. The idea is to complete one section of the puzzle each day.When you open the main box, you will see the smaller boxes, and they have the pieces inside. This particular puzzle features Christmas Cats, and each cat is contained within its own square on the puzzle. If you look closely at the photos, you will see that the cats have a bit of a stained-glass style to them. A paper image of the puzzle is also included in the main box.I have seen a trend in newer Jigsaw Puzzles, where an alphabetic letter is printed on the back of the pieces to help people sort pieces by the area of the Jigsaw Puzzle to which they belong. This puzzle has areas A through F. I’ve noticed that this type of Jigsaw Puzzle also tends to have thinner pieces than a traditional Jigsaw Puzzle, and a very smooth paper backing, so the pieces are more likely not to hold to a puzzle board very well. This is the case with this puzzle. If you’re making the puzzle on a flat surface like a table, though, this is not a concern.Overall, I think this is a sweet idea for children, to encourage them to try Jigsaw Puzzles. Only because of the thin, slippery pieces, I am giving this product four stars.

I really like the idea of having puzzles for Advent calendars. They can be used year after year. This one is a series of stained glass style cat pictures. The box contains 24 numbered little boxes of puzzle pieces and a poster of what the finished puzzle should look like. Each box contains the pieces for one of the cat "windows." Box 1 is the upper left corner of the puzzle. Each box has pieces that attach to the right of the first for 6 boxes. You then drop down and start a new row attached to the upper one. The puzzle pieces are made of sturdy cardboard and the pictures are clear with bright colors. There are printed letters on the back of each puzzle piece. Box 1 has A's on the back. Box 2 has A's on the back except for the pieces that will form the border with Box 3 pieces. Those pieces have an A with a line and a B on the other side of the line. Box 3 will have B's on them. This repeats for the rest of the boxes. Not only does this make it a little easier to put the puzzle together, but it helps to get the pieces back into the correct boxes when you finish and take the puzzle apart. I like that it can be used year after year. Since each section is small, it is a quick activity you can do with children. We enjoy puzzles, so I will be getting one of these Advent calendars to do with each of our grandchildren. It will make the activity special for each of them and they can compare their puzzles. The nice thing is they will be able to switch doing a different puzzle next year.
