A Very Good Speaker
We bought this Tribit StormBox Lava speaker for use at a shared family cabin. We are truly enjoying the speaker. Bluetooth pairing is incredibly easy and efficient. The speaker looks decent and blends in well sitting on a shelf. The strap is a bit over the top, so we have taken that off. There is a small handle which works just fine. The sound really is very good. There is an option to turn on or off the enhanced bass feature. Battery life seems to be real good, though we've never timed how long it lasts or how long it takes to charge. We got the item on sale which made the purchase quite enjoyable. Tribit has a decent support system. They also have an app through which you can make equalizer settings. The app gets mixed reviews. We are satisfied with the settings right out of the box. Overall, this is a very good speaker, and we recommend it.

Sad at first, and then blown away.
I got it in a few hours ago and decided to instantly pair up to it and test it because I was excited.I cranked it and played some hip hop, it sounded muddy and cheap. I got afraid I got goofed on again like when I fell for the W-King speaker, but then I remembered someone in the reviews on Reddit said to update the firmware and mess with the equalizer.I downloaded the app, updated the firmware, and then messed with the equalizer settings.Immediately it changed sound quality like day and night levels. I have it set to “Traditional” EQ settings and for some reason it sounds the clearest and punchiest levels to me.If this thing lasts as long as I hope without a blown speaker or a dying battery, then this company is my new go to for affordable quality speakers!

Clearest sound I have heard from a speaker.
The out of box EQ is utter trash and someone needs to fix that for the sake of your brand. Every default EQ in the app is terrible.I can hear portions in songs that I could never really make out in other more expensive speakers, the clarity is amazing.Once the EQ is fixed this is the perfect speaker for me, loud enough for an average kitchen workspace, not too big to carry around, change the bass boost button to an EQ for specific bands (mine is tailored for Yes or similar bands, then modern rock and metal)My recommended EQ to set in tribit app ( +7 -3 +8 +1 +2 +1 0 0 +3 +7 )

I can't imagine anything better!
It sounds amazing. I love the deep bass. And what I also like about is no disco lights, just a simple speaker that kicks butt. Awesome value, I highly recommend.

Ok, let me start by saying I'm a Tribit fan... As you can see I have multiple of their speakers, as well as the smaller one that clamps on to bicycle handle bars. I had high hopes for this new Lava model... and it does sound good, but not really sure where it fits within the Tribit lineup. I have a few problems/issues with it so far. Depending on how you have the EQ set up, you can bottom out the bass drivers pretty easily. Another issue with this is that compared to Soundbox Pro (rubber handle) it does sound better but not substantially better to justify the size/weight difference....the size is significantly larger and I think the Soundbox Pro is does a better job staying composed and doesn't distort as much as the Lava at higher levels, but again lacks the deeper bass of the Lava. The Pro is by far the more easily transported, and carrying in backpack is way more convenient because of size and weight. The Pro is around $90, and I got the Lava for $90 (but typically it's around $110) during the presale. So not really sure where Tribit intended for the Lava to fit in their lineup. The Blast obviously is used for when you want the loudest, deepest bass, the Pro when you want portable with good sound, the Lava...? I guess, when you want a little more bass than the Pro, but don't mind carrying around a substantially larger and heavier speaker? Remember, with the Lava, you have to be cognizant of your EQ settings because the bass can bottom out easily; I just wish Tribit would have put higher quality bass drivers to handle the deeper/heavier notes, and this would def be 5 stars for me. Overall a good sounding speaker with nice app functionality, which can finely tunenthe speaker's sound in the app, but just need to watch out on the bass frequencies and not set them too high.

Wish I liked it
I really wanted to love this speaker. I read several articles about the similarities to the JBL XTREME 4 for half the cost and was excited as I couldn’t afford the Xtreme right now. I love my other Tribit speakers (Flow and Micro) for the value and quality of sound they produce. Having said that, out of the box the Lava is super bass heavy and mids are almost non-existent. After adjusting via the Tribit app to improve balance, it only served to expose the speakers thin, processed sound overall. It sounded like a small speaker inserted into a larger frame if that makes sense. Proof that you get what you pay for. It may cost about $100 more to get the Xtreme but JBL’s signature sound is so clear and balanced, it’s totally worth it to in my opinion to save up and go that route. However, If you only care about a loud speaker with thumping bass, this will do the job.
