E-Raptor Insert Gloomhaven

I am thrilled with the quality of this product.No, it's not "easy" to assemble...but it's really not that difficult, either. It takes a lot of time and patience, so if you're easily frustrated and give up on things quickly...then take a pass on this product.Because of the lack of clear instructions, I was considering giving it three stars due to how difficult it was. Then a piece broke and I dropped the rating in my head to three stars. Then I realized the logic in putting it together, and could finish building it without instructions. I was able to complete it with a broken piece...and it was still incredibly sturdy. You couldn't even tell that it was broken!When all is said and done, I was so pleased with the quality of this piece that it deserved no less than five stars. If they start labeling their pieces and include better instructions, I would give it six stars!

It gets the job done in that there are places to put things and it helps keep the box somewhat tidy / easy to put away. In the photos above I CAN take time to really get everything flush and have the lid close perfectly but there isn't much point for me since it fits in the game drawer as is and nothing can go on top of it anyway.The middle and topmost "shelves" were easy to put together (note that the walls aren't symmetric and it IS possible to put one in upside down, you just end up with a bit of a lip so it's not the end of the world). That bottom shelf though, it took hours to put together because the "fins / gills" that hold all of the monster cards is super finicky with no real easy way to put them all in and then lock them in place. We made heavy use of wood glue but that's mostly because we cannot risk having to put those gills back together.Quick Notes: 1) The assembly instructions aren't the best. You can read them but things could be more clear. Ex. the bottom shelf, you do use all of the little fins but the instructions only showed 4 (and it didn't have, say, an ellipsis to indicate that the pattern should continue). 2) Some slots are a bit tight. The HP / EXP counters can't all fit in their designated spot and the monster tracker (big square cards) don't have a place in the insert at all and simply sit on top for my game. 3) Most things are face up so it's pretty easy to use. The only exception is the monster cards, they do have the monster name above the fin but it's hard to read any of the cards that are in the middle without picking them up. Not sure there's a great solution to this but it's worth noting (consider putting them in alphabetical order for ease of finding).

Putting this insert together was fairly simple and I did not require any tools. The wood is nice and sturdy and it fits very well in the box. I did watch a youtube video demonstration on the assembly before putting it together and that helped a lot. Overall, it took me about an hour and I couldn't be happier with it.

So this review is a bit difficult, but bear with me.Product quality-wise, I’d put this at 4-5 stars. The material is strong enough to serve its purpose, obviously very carefully designed. Aside from taking some time to assemble (which should be expected), the only sad face for me here is the fact that there’s nothing included for the board pieces themselves (but it literally covers everything else).However...we ran into some issues along the way. First, the product I received came with a QR code to the instruction manual. No problem there, but the website that it directed me to was disabled...I did contact the seller and asked if they could send me a PDF of the instructions, and they were very quick to do so (big thumbs up). BUT...the instructions didn’t quite match the exact product I received...I’m starting to think I got one version of this insert but the instructions were for a newer version, which might explain why the instructions website was disabled? At any rate, the final bummer for me was the fact that the instructions did not include “what goes where” in the finished inserts, so I had to guesstimate it from the product’s listing pictures...Unfortunate bumps along the road, but I did end up with a product that functions as intended, so I’ll have to leave it at that

Picking an insert for this game is challenge, but i am extremely happy with this one, enough that i am motivated to write a review. here are the most important points :positive1. Everything will fit in the box when done, unlike some other inserts that require outside storage of a couple packets2.. set up is NOT that hard, requires no glue, and is kinda fun3. best price of all readily available inserts (other than using packaging foam, but that is a DIY project )4. aesthetically fine, some cooler options exist but this one is perfectly pleasant for a "drinking mead in the tavern planning quests" vibe.negative1. One aspect of set up it really, really frustrating. while online instruction are adequate for WHERE things go, this one section is problematic because of HOW things go. Its the first section, where 30 or so little slots need to be placed in a sheet, then have a a second sheet that interlocks with all 30 slots at once. I recommend resting the 30 pieces with gravity pulling them into sheet one, and applying constant but gentle pressure to the second top sheet while you pop the pieces in place . having a second pair of hands can help also. other then this set up is extremely easy and intuitive, just pop pieces out as you go so its all neat and organized.2. The game map pieces just rest on top. this is annoying, but most inserts are setting it up this way. The only one that has a better strategy i think also requires keeping other pieces outside the box, which was a deal breaker for me. This isnt so bad but it is important to be aware of before you buy.Overall highly recommend. If you are on the fence about an insert in general (as i was) consider the huge amount of time this actually saves in set up. If you are grabbing 4 people to play, that amount of time you save makes the cost almost negligible.

Really hard to put together... And I'm an engineer. The 30 dividers are a pain in the ar5e to line up. Also, despite the blurb saying you don't need glue, the instructions then advise you to use glue....? Also, a couple of tabs broke when I had to disassemble part of it. To top it off, it bloody stinks of burnt wood, from where the laser used to cut it isn't sufficiently cooled. One last thing, the edges of the pieces feel unpleasantly sticky. All in all, a bit crap really considering I paid £45

The first step of the setup was extremely fiddly to put together and took nearly an hour, but after that it was pretty straight forward as long as you followed the downloadable instructionsMake sure when you are building the first card holder that you have the pieces the right way around, I found after building it the first time that the side panel was on the wrong way and had to start from scratch againThe organiser does do the job though, and feels very sturdey once built, a good product, if not a little challenging to put together

Grundsätzlich macht das Insert fast alles richtig. Es handelt sich um per Laser geschnittenes Holz (genauer gesagt Pressspan), dessen Einzelstücke man einfach aus den Platten, die man bekommt, herausdrückt, sortiert und schon kann zusammengebaut werden. Genauer gesagt steckt man alles zusammen, wobei die Festigkeit hauptsächlich durch "T-förmige" Enden zustande kommt, die man durch eine Öffnung drückt und die so wie ein Haken das erneute Herausziehen verhindern. Das ist auch soweit alles gut geplant und umgesetzt, d.h. das Holz ist nachgiebig genug, damit diese Steckverbindungen funktionieren, auch wenn diese Verbindung natürlich keine enormen Kräfte aushält - wenn man will kriegt man zwei Stücke also auch wieder auseinander ohne einen Kopfstand machen zu müssen, die gebotene Festigkeit ist gleichzeitig mehr als ausreichend für den Zweck als Insert für das Gloomhaven Spielmaterial...Die Planung bzw. das Layout der Fächer ist auch als sehr gut zu bezeichnen. Hier und da hätte man sicherlich noch Kleinigkeiten verbessern können, im Detail gäbe es also schon noch Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten, aber da reden wir wirklich über kleinere Details die zu vernachlässigen sind. Die Fächer tun ihren Dienst und man bekommt das gesamte Material gut einsortiert und hat wahrscheinlich erstmal eher dahingehend Probleme, sich eine Übersicht zu verschaffen und was man nun am besten wohin sortiert, wobei einem da die Produktbilder helfen können...Bis hierhin kann man von einem rundum gelungenen Produkt sprechen. Die Bauanleitung erhält dann jedoch den ersten Minuspunkt. Hierbei gibt es zweierlei zu beachten: Zum einen muss man sich die Anleitung als PDF auf der Webseite des polnischen Herstellers holen. An und für sich kein Problem, aber leider ist die Anleitung in minimalistischer Auflösung erstellt worden was die Qualität der Bilder angeht was kein KO Kriterium ist aber definitiv negativ auffällt. Schwerer wiegt da, dass es irgendwann mal eine andere Revision gegeben haben muss, dass heißt die Anleitung passt nicht zu 100% zu dem was man als Set bekommt. Glücklicherweise sind es nur ganz wenige Details die anders sind und da der Grundgedanke des Zusammenbaus sich nicht vollkommen geändert hat, sieht man nach kurzer Zeit wie man die eigenen Teile zusammensetzen muss, damit es passt. Hier wäre eine Aktualisierung der Anleitung wünschenswert. Da man das Ganze aber nur einmal zusammenbaut kann man das eher noch als ein Ärgernis als ein KO Kriterium einstufen. Warum ich hier insgesamt aber doch eher eine schlechte Note gebe hat zwei Gründe:1.)Bei einem der lasergeschnittenen Teile fehlte eine Aussparung, die nötig ist, damit man das Teil mit einem anderen über Kreuz verlaufenden Teil zusammenstecken kann. Ließ sich zwar mit einer Handsäge problemlos nachbessern, aber sowas sollte nicht passieren bzw. es ist davon auszugehen, dass dieses Probleme mehr als nur mich als Einzelfall betrifft.2.)Grundsätzlich lässt sich alles ja wirklich prima zusammenbauen, aber ein Schritt ist einfach zum Haare raufen und wer zu anderen Bewertungen schielt wird die folgende Kritik dort auch wiederfinden. Es geht um einen Teil des Einsatzes, der über die zwei Henkel verfügt. Dort gibt es einen Bereich, wo ganz viele schmale Fächer für Karten vorgesehen sind. Dieser Teil ist einfach ein katastrophales Design und ich kann es vorwegnehmen, ich habe es nach langen und etlichen Versuchen aufgegeben diesen Teil wie angedacht zu bauen, nachdem ich es zigmal auf verschiedene Weisen probiert habe, andere Personen sich auch mal daran versuchten und entnervt das Handtuch geschmissen haben und ich bei einem etwas rabiaterem Versuch einen Teil der Steckverbindung des äußeren Rahmens des Einsatzes ausgerissen habe. Man muss sich das so vorstellen wie zwei lange dünne Holzplatten in die mittig kleine Schlitze dicht nebeneinander reingelasert wurden. Man hat nun die Trennplatten, die dann eben die Fächer für die Karten bilden sollen und die ähnlich wie bei einem Puzzleteil auf beiden Seiten eine Aussparung haben, die man dann in die Schlitze hineindrücken soll. Also im Endeffekt ein Mittelstück, auf das man von beiden Seiten jeweils eine dünne Holzplanke aufschiebt. Ich gehe an dieser Stelle davon aus, dass der Hersteller davon ausging, dass man wenn man das Mittelstück in einen der Schlitze steckt, das Teil einen gewissen Halt hat. Bei einigen wenigen Teilen ist das auch gegeben, aber die Fertigungstoleranzen erlauben es wohl nicht diese Art der Steckverbindung sicher stabil zu halten. So wabbeln die auf einer Seite eingesteckten Stücke also wie wild herum bzw. rutschen dann auch sehr leicht komplett wieder heraus und machen es damit fast unmöglich, dass man wirklich alle der fächerbildenden Mittelstücke wie bei einem Sandwich zwischen die zwei Außenplanken gesteckt kriegt. Man bräuchte gefühlt 10 Paar Hände um das hinzukriegen und selbst wenn man dieses "Sandwich" frei schwebend hätte, so müsste man das danach immer noch mit ein wenig Kraft auf die Grundplatte stecken und das dann zu schaffen ohne das irgendwo wieder was rausrutscht ist wieder so eine Aktion wo man gefühlt 10 Paar Hände bräuchte. Die Variante die Außenstücke zuerst auf der Bodenplatte festzuklemmen und danach die Mittelstücke mit ein wenig Druck einzubauen kann ich dann ebenfalls nicht empfehlen. Das ging die ersten paar Fäche gut, danach war dem Außenrahmen der Druck zu hoch und eine der Klemmverbindungen riss aus. Ich habe es nun vorerst dabei belassen die zahlreichen Mittelstücke nicht einzusetzen. Wenn man die Einsätze dann in der Praxis nutzt muss man sagen, dass diese vielen Fächer so viel Sinn auch nicht machen. Dort kann man die Karten verstauen, aus denen man die Monstermodifikationen zieht, also die durch die sich die Werte der Monster je nach Karte die man zieht leicht verändern. Jeder Typ Monster hätte da eben sein eigenes Fach gehabt, aber so viel Zeitersparnis wenn man all die Fächer durchgehen muss (wo man die Karten wahrscheinlich eh einzeln herausziehen müsste weil ich glaube gut lesen kann man nicht mehr was darauf steht wenn die so dicht an dicht stehen, aber das konnte ich ja nie prüfen) hat man dadurch jetzt auch nicht bzw. die 2-3 Monstertypkartensets die man braucht kriegt man auch schnell aus dem Gesamtstapel herausgesucht. Nichtsdestotrotz sehe ich diesen Teil der Einsätze nahezu als Fehlkonstruktion an. Es wäre unendlich viel leichter gewesen, wenn man einfach nur sagen wir 5 solcher Mittelstücke gehabt hätte, die man aus Stabilitätsgründen so wie derzeit angedacht unterbringen müsste. Die restlichen Mittelstücke hätte man einfach durch das Einlasern von Kerben in den beiden Randschienen schön von oben einschieben können ohne jegliche Mühe. Die derzeitige Konstruktion ist da einfach ein Albtraum zu der auch mir, der ich meist sowas am Ende doch gelöst kriege, letztendlich die Geduld, das Geschick oder vielleicht auch zu der EINEN richtigen Herangehensweise fehlte, mit der man das mit viel Gefummel zusammenkriegen kann. Von der Anleitung fühlt man sich an der Stelle sowieso ein wenig veräppelt, weil dort das Einsetzen von einem Stück abgebildet ist mit einem im Nachhinein sadistischen "x30". Mein Plan, sollte ich diese Fächer doch mal haben wollen (wie gesagt - ihr Vorteil ist am Ende des Tages sehr gering), besteht darin von den Mittelstücken einfach auf einer Seite das einzusteckende Stück abzusägen und die andere Seite einzustecken und mit Leim festzukleben. Das kann man im Endeffekt wahrscheinlich sogar jedem empfehlen, denn es dürfte schneller gehen als alle eigenen Bauversuche...Aufgrund der genannten kleineren Mängel sowie dem großen Manko der Odysee der 30 Trennfächer (was sich leicht durch eine kleine Konzeptänderung hätte vermeiden lassen können) vergebe ich nur zwei Sterne. Leider ein Fall, wo man eigentlich fast alles richtig macht, aber das was falsch gemacht wird versaut das Gesamtbild so ziemlich...

I wouldn't recommend it. It took several hours to assemble and from my prospective as an engineer it was not an easy job. The included instructions were for not this product but a now retired version and the link to the online instructions is a dead link. All in all, after construction I can safely saw it was a waste of time and money.

Muy recomendado.MONTAJE : el mio vino con instrucciones en papel (el QR no va), había unas faltas menores en ellas, nada grave.Pero hay de ir probando ya que las piezas tiene un lado bueno y un malo, la diferencia entre los dos puede ser de solo un milímetro.El primero piso necesita paciencia y astusia. Si Ikea te parce difícil, no compras esto.Tarde approx 1h para montarlo, cuenta 1h de más para ponerle pega de madera. Te lo vende "no glue", pero el propio manual te recomienda usar pega.Tiene una olor muy fuerte a madera (?) cemada / cortada. A mi me gusta, a otros les molestara. El olor se van prácticamente por completo después de dejarlo ventilar unos días.DISENO:De manera general, todo está muy apretado. Me recuerda un rompe cabeza. Ej para poner los contador de vida, tiene que decalarlos y ponerlos un de frente junto a uno de espada. Muchos de los monstruos solo caben una casilla, entonces tienes de recuerdarte donde va cada uno.Para sacar las cosas, te recomiendo un pequeño gancho, ya que ni con un dedo de niño pequeño podrás sacar el monstruo del fondo de la casilla.Como no hay instrucciones sobre donde poner que, hay de buscarte la vida. (mira mis fotos para una sugerencia)Cabe los monstruos bien organizados, los Hex también.El tema de los Hex, es que tiene una cosa de un lado y otra del otro. Intente hacer un código de color, pero aún así tengo de buscar un poco cada vez.Para las cartas no hay un sistema, menos las modifiers de los monstruos, estos son muy bien organizado.Parece cuadrado, pero no lo es, para poner lo dentro de la caja entra al milímetro.Las cartas de referencia de los monstruos, las fundas, las mapas, y las pegatinas van por encima. En función de tu astucia y paciencia podrás o no cerrar bien la caja.USO:Muy útil, no me imagino sin esto.Permite montar y guardar un escenario muy rápidamente. Pero para guardar las cosas de los jugadores y cerrar la caja tardas un poco.
