Q: Just purchased. I'm confused as to why the bottom is cut up and in. How to position?

I think it's shaped so that it curves around your back. It's shown in the position in which you'd use it, I put it in the small of my back.

Q: I purchased the soft support but it's too much compression causing pain in back & legs. Anyone experiencing the same? :(

I have not experienced any pain. It works so well for me that I have on in my car and one at home.

Q: can this be used without the straps? i want to use it in living room chair can the straps be removed?

You can just not wrap the straps around the chair to use it without the straps. Or cut them off. They are sewn to the pillow.
