Oxford Paperback Dictionary and Thesaurus Paperback – June 22, 2009

英語を勉強している方で、Learner’s 用の英-英辞典では物足りない方。もしくは、英-英辞典がもう一冊欲しい方にお勧めです。良質な辞書がこのお値段で買えるなんて夢のようです。発音記号は、ほとんど記載されていませんが、この辞書を使えるレベルの人には必要ないからだと思います。デジタルも良いですが、アナログな辞書もやはり良いです。

Oxford は、三冊目だが、単語の説明が簡にして要であり、類語も整理され、例文もあって、使いやすい。OxfordのThesaurus,とDictionary,も持っているが、この第３版のOxford Dictionary ＆ Thesaurusが、一番使いやすいと思います。

辞書と類義語辞典として使え最高です。短時間にたくさんの単語が覚えられとても効率がよいです。

語句の説明が適語で簡潔に記述されており、読むのに負担感が無く、楽しめる辞書です。

This book concentrates on giving clear definitions of a wide variety of words, plus also acting as a thesaurus that gives a generous number of synonyms for many entries (but don't go looking for archaic or highly technical words).. Even when a word doesn't have a thesaurus entry, the dictionary entry will often give one or two synonyms.The definitions are clearly but simply expressed, and would be suitable for both native and non-native speakers of English. My favorite feature is that the thesaurus clearly distinguishes between different senses of a word. This would be helpful to English learners wanting to avoid choosing an inappropriate synonym.The binding is run-of-the-mill paperback, so don't expect it to last forever, but nevertheless it's a good buy for what it sets out to do.

ポケット版シソーラスを買って、老眼のため小さい字をあまりに読むのがつらいので、こちらを買いなおしました。辞書とシソーラスが一体になっていて、これ一冊で済むので便利だし、もちろん字も読みやすいです。ただし、とうてい携行は無理です。説明は簡潔ですが、英英辞書初級者には本当にこれは十分だと思います。辞書でペーパーバックというのを実は初めて購入しましたが、確かに紙質がペーパーバックなので、真っ白ではありません。私はその辺のこだわりがありませんので、問題ありませんが。
