Do you get two of these in one box?

Yes. The Genius Star include one set of 7 dice and two sets of grids, blockers and shapes.

Is this too difficult for a 7 year old ?

Genius Star could be a little difficult for a 7-year old. I started our younger grandchildren with Genius Square which was just enough of a challenge without being frustrating.

Weird question: Can you play this game without the dice--i.e. place the blockers randomly yourself and still get all 165,888 possibilities?

Sorry but you cannot. The numbers on the dice are chosen by an algorithm and not all numbers & combinations of numbers are possible with the dice. If you place the blockers wherever you want, there is a possibility that there will not be a solution!

No. There aren't too many pieces. You can keep the pieces in the box, until you put them on the star. When we play, we actually shake or drop the dice in the lid, so that they are contained.
