Q: How to tell that it is charging? No lights to indicate if charging is occurring?

The charger does have charging indicators for each slot. They light up red and turn green once the battery is charged.

Q: Is this usb-c or micro-usb? the pictures show both. the description states micro-usb.

It is standard USB from the power sources to the charger and micro USB into the charger
