A great variation on the classic Stirling Engine
The Ringbom Stirling is a lot like DStar's excellent Low-Temperature Stirling Engine but it has an nifty difference that many will appreciate: instead of the standard mechanical rod attached to the piston it uses a magnet. You can visibly see the piston rising and falling without a physical connecting rod. I was able to get this engine running off a cup of water that had been microwaved for 90 seconds, and on some good days I was able to get it operating just on the heat of my hand. Wasn't meant for that low heat, however so don't expect great results. Use your coffee.The price is great and the support for this product has been excellent. Disclosure: In addition to having a collection of these I also own a science store so I have been able to review a fair number of these. Be sure to get from this supplier - don't cheapen out and buy one without support.
