Rest easy...
If you are in the unfortunate position of having to look for hospital beds, then I'm guessing you don't need anymore stress than you already have. So here's the deal: I purchased from Big Apple and from them, the price was very good (like hundreds less) and the bed and mattress are exactly as pictured and described. My mattress was damaged in shipping and their very friendly service rep helped me quickly and got a new mattress sent out asap. They actually sent out the new mattress based on my pics of the damage and got the new one to me before I had completed the authorized return. That's huge since the last thing you want when you need this bed is to have any delay in being able to use it.Regarding the Invacare bed: We had been renting one of them for my Grandma and it seemed to be a good bed so we decided to go with this brand when we purchased. The two types are semi-electric and full-electric. Semi-electric covers the head and feet inclining but it has a turning crank handle to lift the whole bed up and down which assists the person to get in and out of bed. The full-electric covers head, feet and the whole bed. We found the crank to be fine as it is easy to turn, and my Grandma just steadies herself with her walker until the bed is high enough for her to step away from it. Then she'll wait as we move it all the way down so can she sit back down into the bed. So if you have someone who needs constant stabilization or are afraid that they'll try to stand while the bed is in motion, you may need to do the full-electric just so you can stand right in front of them while you are getting the bed into the correct position because the crank for the semi-automatic is at the foot of the bed.All in all, I'm sure we'd all rather be spending this much money on something cool instead of practical, but when you are in the market for a hospital bed, having it is imperative. Because of this, I can definitely recommend the Invacare semi-electric with foam mattress from Big Apple.

They could have done better with the same effort.
The bed itself is fine: the mattress, the size, the quietness of the motors; however, the manual mechanism--the long bar that goes from the foot of the bed to the head--to raise and lower the whole bed could not be installed: the holes to adjust it are either too short or too long. I had to drill an extra hole to match. Also, the instructions are too simple and generalized. They are for all the models and it helped a lot that I am an engineer. What about a professionally produced video for YouTube?

Very useful product
It was purchased and installed for use of my handicapef wife. With side rails it was very safe. Make her to sit in was more helpful with the lifting arrangements.Very useful product for elders

sleeping well
this bed is as advertised. it works well. I had some guys put ittogether for me. that was a task.I sleep in it each night. sorta hard to get out, as I have to lower theback & knees to get out. takes a couple minutes. that is all.the cat likes to sleep on the knee part when it is up..have some really nice bamboo rayon sheets. try them.

would recommend.
It works as expected, is comfortable. However, I wish the half-rails were sturdier- they wobble during use.
