Purchased these as a replacement for the original equipment for my office chair. The dust shields are a nice touch for keeping debris from the bearings but also the entire shaft can be taken apart to replace the bearing and wheel if needed with the two included wrenches, something I could not find on most competitors. Use is very smooth in both rotation and turning making it glide across hard surfaces and move well even across carpet. I would highly recommend these as a must for office chairs and would repurchase if I need more.Update:Almost two years and still enjoying the original casters. Removal is easy and cleaning out of any debris is a snap. Our Mop bucket died and needed replacing, but the replacement's casters were bad. So this happened......

I think these wheels are great. Attractive and well built, and they roll easily on my carpet but are also stable when seated.I'm very pleased with the purchase. One note - since these are a little more than 3" tall be sure your chair cylinder has enough drop to compensate for the extra height these wheel add over standard casters. I initially put these in a chair that was already at it's lowest point on the cylinder and these wheels raised the chair too high - I could not get my knees level. I switched these onto my Steelcase Leap chair since it needed new casters also and it is a perfect fit and they look great on the chair.

It works great. I have a hard floor. But it rolls so good on my hard floor, you simply must make sure you are holding your chair by one of its arms when sitting down or it can slip out from under you and you can hurt your tailbone.Like what happened to me.I'm getting more of these wheels because it also does a good job in protecting my floor due to less rolling resistance.

I tricked out my office chair with this wheel and tire combo because the factory ones are almost completely useless on any flooring type.Now the dog can pull me around and I don't have to get up for anything.I gave it four stars because these type of wheels last about 6 months before the bearings go out and they all seem to have the same construction. Regardless they are cheap and easy to replace.This is the only set I have seen here that have dust covers over the bearing. Well see if that makes a difference in 6 months.

I bought my office chair over 15 years ago in Costco, really comfortable as it can be. However; the casters were making noice and scratching the wooden floor, this ATOMDOC Casters are unique and perfect for my office chair, quiet and smooth rolling over the floor. Great product!

I bought these, thinking that they would make it easier to roll around on thick carpet (as it says). They don't work well at all on carpet. The problem is when you change directions, and the castors need to turn. They dig in and grip the carpet, causing my chair to not want to move at ALL. I actually need to take my weight off the chair before it will roll. I'm sure these work very well on hard flooring, but they shouldn't advertise these being good for carpet, because they certainly are NOT.

The installation was simple; pull off old and put on new.I have had them on for a few weeks and my god does it make a huge difference. I really do not know why I contemplated it so long. When I first put the wheels on, it felt like I was gliding on ice!FYI, apparently there are different sizes, so check yours with a caliper (digital or manual) and make sure the diameter of your chair's wheels is equivalent to what you're buying. If you don't have a caliper, pull a wheel off and place the metal peg down (wheel side up) on a piece of paper. Draw the circumference of the peg (should be a circle) and measure that. Google length converter and it does the math for you.

ATOMDOC casters are a great product. very well made. bearings roll smooth and i think the bearing caps will prove to be very useful. my old casters had carpet in them and they were used on a cheep mat. definitely an upgrade from the old plastic casters to the new all metal ones. very happy i purchased them.
