Utopia Tool's Tactical Gun Smithing Vise

I ordered this for my "gun room" where I work on guns and clean them, etc... It arrived quickly and was in perfect condition.I am somewhat curious as to why the vise is advertised as a "Tactical Gun Smithing Vise" and then when I got it, it says it's a "Universal Precision Vise." That's a little confusing. Also, when I ordered it, the color of the vise was a greenish color and the one I got was black and looked different. It still serves the purpose, but I am curious about those two things.This is more of an extra set of hands to hold guns and or gun parts so you can free up your hands and actually work on whatever you are working on.I love that the vise jaws are rubber-coated. This way I won't scratch my guns. However, It does not hold as well as I would like it to. I have had some slipping, but this vise is fine for its intended purpose. But what more can you expect for this price?The top gun vises that I have seen cost 10-20 times more than this particular one. I'm always happy to save money!I can say I personally have gotten my money's worth out of this vise. I would purchase it again and would recommend it to anyone that might need an extra set of hands.However, for the more strenuous jobs, I recommend using a different vise. One that is stronger and would most likely be more expensive.

Great tool that you can mount to any solid surface. Works perfectly for those small jobs when you need a second pair of hands. I like the portability of the unit.

This is not an actual "vise" but is more of an extra set of hands to hold something. It is useful if you want to hold something at an angle and then paint it. The vise is not solid steel and it broke when I was trying to torque down the barrel of an AR (literally the steel ball joint shattered). Was a complete waste of money. There is nothing tactical about this and it is not useful for gun smithing or what you would normally use a vise for. On the plus side, it arrived quickly.

This is not a heavy duty vise. It is a great 3rd hand for pistol maintenance and parts replacement, very adjustable and comes with nice rubber pads on the jaws. Great for the money, don't use it for heavy torque work.

Useless. Doesn't open up wide enough to hold an upper receiver block for AR15. You get what you pay for and this is a waste of money.

This vise is fine for its intended purpose, which is to hold gun parts that you are working on to free up both of your hands. The vise jaws are rubber-coated so as to prevent scratching the gun parts. This vise is not intended to put strong pressure on the parts as with some vise applications. But for freeing up one's hands to work on gun components this vise works just fine and I have enjoyed having it on my workbench. RJB.

I like mine. Good for holding stock. But not true rifle vice!

VERY flimsy. Will not tighten down securely enough to keep from moving. Spend the extra money and purchase a sturdy, bench mounted vise.
