Active Learning for Infants (Addison-Wesley Active Learning Series)

This book has tons of activities for babies broken down by skill enhanced and then developmental stage. I think it would have been better organized and easier to use if it had been broken down in reverse, developmental stage and then skill. A lot of the activities are things that come naturally and you don't need to be told to do them, but there were still a lot of things to help you keep baby busy, and to help you to remember to work on certain skills you might not think of. It also helped you to really think about and understand the different activities and why they help certain skills, which sort of helps you gain perspective on how everything around you can be turned into an activity you can use to your and your baby's advantage. Worth the investment!

As much as the outfits and onesies are cute, kids barely get to wear each thing but a few times before growing out of them and they will have no memory of your gift. This is the best gift I've ever gotten and many say it was the best gift I ever gave them. New moms need direction on how to fill their days and what to expect from their newborns. This book outlines different areas and things to do, what you need, and how long each thing takes. The book is divided into sections for physical development, activities for listening and talking, and how they learn at this age from the world around them. A must have for every new parent.

the ring bind was worn out...

I purchased this book to replace one I had been using at another child care center when I was let go due to financial problems at the center. I was quickly hired at another center, but they lacked any resource books for daily activities for the infants. I love using this book because it tells exactly what area of learning is taught by the activity. The babies really enjoy the activities too!

Great for first time parents (its actually for daycare workers) that need ideas for activities for their infants, especially if you have not been around kids much. However, some of the activities in the different sections (music vs. active learning, etc) are the same but just with a slightly different twist, so there is alot of repetition. Overall I recommend though.

Brilliant book. We had a physio check up just to be sure all was ok and she loved the book too so we will be buying the next in the series. Great ideas and easy to understand and use without buying anything.

I remember this book many years ago when I first started teaching in a daycare. Now that I am a daycare director and infant teacher I am happy to have rediscovered this book and bought it for myself.

This is great for teachers and stay at home parents for infants to young crawlers!
