I am a complete novice when it comes to building ethernet cables. It takes me an embarrassingly long time to get all of the twisted pairs undone and lined up in the proper order. However, once I did that, and using a quality crimping tool, I made a cable and it worked perfectly right away. I like that this connector allows the wires to pass completely through it so you can easily verify you have them in the correct order. The instructions are quite vague, but I learned that after you pass them through, you then cut them straight and pull them back in so they are flush with the end of the connector before you make the crimp. If you don't, it is very difficult to clip the wire ends off enough so that the plug fully seats into a port. Even with that mistake on my first try, the connector worked (and is continuing to work many days later) without having to re-do anything. These may be cheap compared to name brand connectors, but I have not had any issues with failures.

Years ago before retirement I terminated hundreds of Cat5 cables. I saw no need for pass through, until I started using them. I now have a 100 percent success rate with tighter connectors.

If you're running new ethernet cables, pass-through connectors make the job so much easier and faster. It's not 100% foolproof. Sometimes the wires still get crossed, but it's easy to see and correct before you crimp. No more wasted connectors. Make sure you really do a good job straightening your wires and it works like a champ.

Not great if you try to shove all the conductors in to the connector at the same time, but if you feed one wire at a time through, they're good connectors.

I finally had a chance to use these on a new Cat6 line. They are so easy compared to the old kind of connector where you had to butt the end of the wire. Wires slip through the holes and can be pulled tight before crimping. If you strip the outer cover about two inches you can bend the first one over after pulling it part of the way through to keep it from falling out. Then push the others through one at a time. Trimming with diagonal cutters left a small nub but it still plugged in and clicked the keeper. My old crimper worked fine.

This product tested my sanity. Although they were marketed for CAT6 cable, I couldn't get them to work. Rather than individual holes for the wires, there is a "trough" with tiny bumps that are supposed to keep the wires aligned onto the pins. They don't. I tried the slightly larger CAT5e cable and they worked in the connector - but the smaller CAT6 wires move around way too much to pinpoint the spike. Most do not pierce the wire when crimped, as they roll off to the side easily. The best I could achieve with 6 tries was 7 of the 8 pins pierced the wire. I will look for a different product that is more suitable for CAT6 cable.

Seen what he pro's use, the metal casing makes them extra durable. Even if you don't have the latest crimper/cutoff tool, you can still crimp and cut the wires another way. Using the old style takes WAY MORE TIME, these are a great price, great quality!
