Best of the best!
Bought this for replacing my 112 blade. I also bought a Kunz replacement blade as a comparison. See review on Kunz #112. The Hock is way thicker than both the Stanely and the Kunz. Absolute no vibration.

Its better than making one at home.
ONLY THREE STARS...I DO NOT like the small hole in the scraper iron. The blade however is good quality nice and flat. The measurements of this scraper iron are very accurate as described. 2 7/8" x 5" x 3/32" 45 degree bevelDisclaimer. Are all # 12 scraper planes the same size ?Who knows. But here's my personal opinion.Accurately measure your individual scraper plane parts (mouth and clamp) for the scraper iron. Some manufacturers "reproduced or duplicated" the #12 scraper plane.MY individual #12 scraper plane is a green German duplicate #12 scraper plane. The blade was approx. 3/32" too wide to fit my individual scraper plane.I easily used a variable speed bench grinder with a fine grit wheel with solid flat tool rests.Yes I ground it free hand and very light pressure and a bucket of cold water. The end result.A perfect fit... The width was accurate within 1/64" of an inch

Great Steel - Now with no side hole
Excellent product as received. Will note that the holes in the product representation on Amazon (and clearly a gripe with other customers) were not present on the 2 blades I received. These are an excellent choice to replace your Stanley 12 or 112 scrapers. They're thicker than stock, but not as much as the also excellent Lie-Nielsen blades which sadly don't fit the older Stanleys.

This is a great iron, but I omitted two stars because the edge was very coarsely ground when it arrived. Since it's a 45 degree bevel, there is virtually no edge, which makes sharpening it a chore. Edge bore many deep scratches. In other words, the iron was nowhere near ready to use out of the box.

Came in the mail severely dished and not square. I had to spend an hour on this to make it useable.

Looks like a counterfeit blade
First . . . I DO NOT have this blade. But it does not look like a genuine Hock blade. I've gotten a couple of Mr. Hock's blades in the past and they are flawless. If you want to see the real thing (and compare the logo) go here: [...]
