It works well looks nice and doesn’t show fingerprints
This garbage can is fingerprint resistant, it’s tall and slim and runs off of batteries. It was packaged well and arrived in great condition. It was easy to take off lid and insert 4 “D” size batteries which are not included. The motion sensor can be turned on or off and works very well. Due to small kitchen we had to face the sensor toward a wall to avoid it opening every time someone walks by but that’s not a flaw. It closes by itself. Our dogs wouldn’t stay out of our garbage and now they do. I just turn the sensor off at night and have had no issues. A 13 gallon bag does fit but I also use larger 30 gallon bag as that’s what we set out for garbage day and we always add other garbage to our kitchen garbage so it makes more sense. I love being able to throw away trash and not have to touch the van or try to use a foot pedal and have the van slid away from me.

Perfect size!
I bought this because of the price, looks, and size. I moved to a smaller apartment and my kitchen is relatively smaller than my old one, so this is just the perfect size! The motion sensor works most of the time, though sometimes it takes a little while to detect motion. It may be the area it’s in, and I find the inside liner thing that holds the bag annoying. I have to take it completely out to take out the bag, and then use it to secure the bag when I put it in. Other than that, I think it was a great purchase! I am very happy with it!

great trashcan, flawed design
Ok, so I've read everyone's review and will say, up front, that everyone is right about the inside of the can ripping/shredding garbage bags with its flawed design. Whoever designed the inside of the can needs to be fired. There's triangular "teeth" that serve no discernable function other than to make life miserable when it comes time to empty the trash. My solution? I just used thick duct tape around the inside of the rim to cover up the "teeth" and now everything's fine. No problems taking out the bag. As for the claims about the sticker on the can and having trouble getting it off, I ordered mine through Amazon and it did not come with ANY stickers on it. Maybe someone from the company read the reviews here on Amazon? : ) Lastly, the complaints about how "loud" it is and how slow the automatic opener is, I don't think the opening/closing noise is any worse than others that I've had, and the speed of the opening/closing door was fine once I put in brand new Duracells. I, for one, am very happy with this trash can. It holds A LOT of garbage because it's about 6 inches taller than the traditional can. Would I buy it again? Absolutely!

While the concept of this garbage can is good, the quality of it is not so good.
The media could not be loaded. The iTouchless SX lid opens by waving your hand in front of the sensor, and the motor then moves the pieced lid cover along a plastic, beaded chain to open the lid back into its cavity. When the lid closes, the motor moves the chain in the opposite direction and closes the lid. The lid does open smoothly. Unfortunately, the motor on my first iTouchless SX can would continue to try and close the lid even after the lid was already closed, resulting in a horrible grinding noise as the lid continued to push itself closed. I called iTouchless customer service and after trying to fix it by manually opening and closing the lid, they recommended an Amazon exchange. My second iTouchless can arrived a week later and worked as I expected it to. The lid open and closed smoothly, and there was no grinding noises. This wasn't to last though, as three weeks into owning the second iTouchless SX can it began to have the same problems as the first one; the motor would try to close the lid when it was already closed. We had not used the can in any other manner than its intended purpose. It was working perfectly fine one moment and the next moment, it started grinding the lid closed. I manually open and closed the lid per the previous instructions from iTouchless customer support, but that would only fix the problem for one usage before the motor would go back to trying to force-close the lid. If I held the lid in a vertical position (where the motor had to push up to close the lid), then it would close properly. Once I placed the lid horizontally back onto the body of the trash can, the motor would go back to trying to slide the lid closed even if it was already in the closed position. I contacted Amazon again and ordered a second exchange. When the third iTouchless SX can arrived, it has the *exact* same problem! I took the third can lid out of the box, plugged in the AC adapter, and when the lid closed the motor tried to close the lid even further. Frustrated, I called iTouchless customer service again. The nice lady on the phone thought it was odd, but immediately went into her "Amazon will exchange it" routine. After I explained to her that this was my third iTouchless can and it has just arrived at my doorstep 15 minutes ago, she put me on hold for a moment. When she came back, she said there was nothing that they could do and I would simply have to exchange it again.Amazon refused to exchange the garbage can a fourth time and refunded my money.I do not know if iTouchless sent Amazon a bad batch of garbage cans or if other consumers enjoy the loud, obnoxious grinding noise the lid makes and simply accepts the fact that it is a flawed design, but I would not recommend anyone to purchase this item. Unless your someone who *likes* exchanging items back and forth to Amazon, then feel free to purchase this garbage can!On a positive note, the can body itself never had any large dents and there wasn't an adhesive sticker on it, as mentioned in older reviews. I also never had a problem with trash bags ripping as they were removed from the can. I did have 3 weeks of enjoyable use out of it.

Classy!
I'm a customer of iTouchless cans for years. This is my third one, and I liked the most this one mainly because of its sleek design and the usage advantage it provides for my kitchen setting. I have a small kitchen and use a portable island with my espresso gear on it. I use my trash can under the island and this sliding design works perfectly for me as I don't need to worry about the going-up lid anymore. Plus, its mouth is even wider and it's easier to get rid of big items without any hassle. I truly recommend this one to anyone who desires a sleek and user-friendly trash can.

Lasted a year
I have to update this review. I have had this for one year. At first I thought it was great and I was very happy with this purchase. I dont normally spend so much on a trash bin but my past one looked pretty but was pretty useless. The motion detection was initially good leaving both hands free to clean up without having to touch the bin.We had sporadic issues with the lid no matter if we used batteries or the plug. You would end up having to touch the lid as it would get stuck in place. Finally it now does nothing and you have to fully take the lid off. Its quite a bit of money for a trash can and I would expect more than a year of life out of it. Tonight it's going out on the curb and tomorrow I'm getting a step one. I love the idea of a touchless mention activated trash can but this one is just a pain.

Love it with my toddlers
This garbage can is better than I expected. when I first got it, I had a few concerns, it didn't look that big so I was concerned i was going to end up with half empty garbage bags. But that isn't the case, they fill up a good amount but leave room to tie the bag. Also, my husband was concerned that there was no safety when the door closed so he thought that our 2 toddlers were going to get there fingers pinched in the door all the time. But it actually works better than a normal garbage can because I shut the power off with the switch in the back without them noticing and it keeps them out of the garbage all together. I don't have to worry about them playing in the garbage can or throwing things out like I did with the standard can. Also of course I love the touches garbage can so I don't have to touch anything while cooking.

GREAT PRODUCT...TRY ONE!
This trash can works like a charm. It is so easy to use and maintain. We just love it! We took the adapter for it too. I love it for the fact you do not have to touch the garbage and the door opens and you just drop the trash in and the door closes. You tie the top of the bag shut and replace it with another. Very sanitary to use. Just damp cloth it on the outside with a bit of cleaner to keep it sanitary. The stainless finish is great! This is worth every penny and we are so happy with this product. We love to keep everything clean in our kitchen and this is a real plus product to help us do that. It arrived on time and in excellent condition. Thank you Amazon for such a great product!

Wife and friends like it.
Got this garbage can for over four year now with no problem Just did a easy small adjustment on closing tracks cause it was making a toc toc toc at the end of closing. Would buy again but smaller can because if you wait for the bag to be full it's will smart to smell your wasting big bag for nothing.

replacing the batteries on a garbage can is unpleasant, They shouldn't have used bad sensors for open/close. Don't buy.
if you are going to buy this, get the ac adapter, replacing the batteries on a garbage can is unpleasant. It needs to be kept clean, but it's not hard to clean it, just gross.Update: I bought this in September 2014, it's now its april 2017. The door now opens, but when it tries to close the door just jerks and won't move much more than 1/4" inch. I wanted to take it apart to see if I could fix it, the screws on the bottom are so rusted that it can't be opened without drilling out the screws. Two of the screw holes are very long and using a screw remover just won't work. I guess a dremel tool might allow me to drill through the screws.I went to the manufacturer website to see about buying a replacement top. They want 80 bucks US without customs, which is probably going to be 10 or 15 US. When I bought it, it was 116 with free shipping. I guess the CAD screwed me there on buying a replacement. Not very happy because I like the garbage can, maybe there are better solutions out there now, this doesn't seem to have much staying power.Update: Well it's totally unresponsive now. Will open and moves 1/8" when it closes. Don't buy this thing.
