The holder is made of plastic. It is sturdy.

Does this holder work with the standard 5/16" crayola crayons

It won't work with the usual crayons (might work with the larger Kindergarten crayons).

Will a Dixon lumber crayon fit?

Don’t know. I’ve only used a graphite stick .
