Jackson Galaxy Petmate Crinkle Flies-Butterfly for Cats (2 Pack)

For nine months I've been trying to socialize a rescued cat who must have experienced serious trauma, because all he does is hide. Even treats barely earned his trust. But these butterflies, with their tantalizing crinkle and chompable wings, did the trick. I attached one to a toy wand we already owned and within minutes, the playful kitten inside emerged. For the first time, his eyes genuinely lit up with excitement and joy instead of fear. His usual aversion to being within 5 feet of a human disappears when this magical butterfly makes an appearance, and he'll dash right past the normally terrifying human feet to pounce and leap after it. When I use this toy, I see the spirited and healthy cat he was meant to be, and hopefully will be someday.He's particularly brutal on toys as his teeth are disproportionately huge and seem to tear through anything, but after weeks of daily play these butterflies show no sign of wear. Though he still won't initiate playing with it himself (that would necessitate emerging from his hidey-hole, after all), he will pop out within seconds of it lifting into the air to play. This toy satiates his hunting and jumping instincts, and gets him the exercise he badly needs. He'd grown out of shape due to constant cowering and chasing this has helped him expand his lung capacity and extend the time he can run around before quitting. I hope it holds up for a long time to come, but I won't hesitate to get more provided they stay this quality.

These butterflies are beautiful and well-made. The crinkling sound is perfect. The small one is just the right size for my small cat and even though it's hard for her to get the larger one into her mouth, she's worked it out and loves it, too.This is easily her favorite toy -- just need it to come in more colors so she can feel like she's playing with a new toy even though it's otherwise the same!

I thought this looked like the perfect toy, and it is well made, but our cat will have nothing to do with it. Maybe your cat will like it though.

My cats did not love this toy as a wand attachment. They played with it some but when I took it off the wand, one of my cats grabbed it up in their mouth and ran off with it to play alone. (She loves playing with toys by herself.) Later, the other cat was batting and throwing it in the air. My third cat has never touched it or been interested. Just goes to show that each cat is unique and even has their own play style. These are beautiful, crinkly and well made. They are light enough to play with as a wand attachment. My cats really like smaller attachments than this size, though.

These are well made and very cute. I'm sure that a lot of cats will really like these but my cat just wasn't that interested. But as most cat guardians know, it all depends on what your cat decides to like and not like when it comes to toys. It is all in cat preference.

The media could not be loaded. My cat, Sakura, is so obsessed with these little butterflies it's almost crazy. We got them for our other cat who had ZERO interest and almost from the minute we adopted her, they became her favorite thing in the universe.They are the ONLY toy she will play fetch with and that has become a daily occurrence. She carries them around and meows with them in her mouth to tell us to throw them for her. And nothing else besides food ever makes her meow. She drops then on my pillow. My dinner plate of food. My plants. My foot when I'm in the bathroom. Anywhere she can to try and get my attention she'll put them. She'll set them down and stare me down, watching, waiting for me to pick up and toss the butterfly so she, herself, can fly through my house like a cat possessed. I don't know if it's the catnip, the crinkle, or the rush of adrenaline through her tiny body but she can't get enough of it.The first two I bought have survived over a year of being dropped, tossed, clawed, bitten, washed, and hidden when I need a break from seeing them. But no matter where they go, Sakura will find them and the butterfly gets begged to be tossed once again.I am both thrilled my cat loves these and has found such a treasure and terrified of a future in which the butterfly could one day break or be lost. So have bought a stash that can hopefully satisfy my cat for years to come as no other toy has ever come close to the level of sheer obsession she has for these things.I both can't recommend them enough and wish to warn anyone considering getting these of possible consequences should their cat love them even HALF as much as mine.

Our (older) kitten has played with all sorts of things, but these butterflies are her obvious favorites. She'll carry them around in her mouth and drop them places to start playing. She's brought them to me to attach to the wand or just to hide and play by hand. She's even brought them outside with her. I think it's the combination of some crinkle and how they are easy and comfortable for her to carry. They're also tough. They don't get gutted and torn the way plush cat toys do, they just get lost, which is why I got a second set.

Feathers are fine but the crinkle butterflies have my cat jumping and rolling on his back using all four paws to try to catch the crinkle butterfly. He is 14 years old and acting as if he were a kitten again. He just loves playing with these crinkle butterflies. They attach to the Jackson Galaxy Air Wand (the wand comes with the feathers). Marley liked the feathers, but when the crinkle butterfly was attached, he went wild. It is so nice to see him so playful and having such a good time!!
