Good reading
Bought this book for my granddaughter who is now learning to read. She loved reading about Amanda and her friends. This was her second book in this series.

big kid school
I ordered this for my granddaughter who will be attending kindergarten this fall. I like this series of Oliver and Amanda books for their content and the ease of reading for those children gaining those skills. She seems to enjoy the story and would recommend this book to parents and grandparents of K-2nd graders.

Amanda starts school and makes a new friend!
This book is characterized as a Level Two reader, which is described as "reading together, short sentences, simple dialogue".The stories are interesting with colorful and cute illustrations by Ann Schweninger. Here, Amanda Pig starts school and is very excited! She takes the school bus and meets a shy piglet named Lollypop, who soon becomes Amanda's best friend. The pair share adventures in school through four short chapters. I'd recommend this series to children who are beginning to develop some measure of independence in their reading and have completed the level one readers. It also makes an excellent read aloud for younger children.

Great to read to your preschoolers
My 2- and 4- year-olds really liked this book. They both seemed captivated by the bright, interesting pictures and the interesting stories. I especially like the fact that Amanda was interested and excited about attending school, that her brother helped her out on the first day of class, and that she (Amanda) tried to alleviate the anxiety of one of her classmates. Overall, the book teaches great morals.

A Great Choice to Help Get Ready for School
We gave this book to our daughter just before she started kindergarten. It was perfect. The experiences that Amanda had with riding the bus and making friends helped her get ready for her own new adventures. The lighthearted easy-to-read pages made reading the book fun for her and the chapter book format was a terrific introduction to this style of reading. She read the book over and over and over again, giving her lots of practice before school even began. We love Amanda Pig!

A Good Book for going to school/girls.
This book was fine but just not the book for us. DS had not problem reading it just not interested in the subject. I think it would be great for a girl who was getting ready to go to school or at the very least going to school. Amanda is so excited about going to kindergarten and she makes a friend who is not. Recommended as a reader for 2-3rd grade.
