How thick is the zinc strip?

The zinc strip is about 1/32" thick, but the zinc is only a coating, not solid as I expected.

Science project became a fun activity by making electricity using fruits

My younger son used the electrode for a fun science project last year and my older son used it in different way this year. By inserting a piece of copper or zinc inside an orange or cucumber they would be able to make enough electricity to light up a small light bulb which required very low voltage and very low current.
