Within this publication, the reader is presented with explanations for the central concepts and basic guidelines to the ceremonies that form a part of Hellenic Household Worship as has been established and is currently practiced by the LABRYS Polytheistic Community in Hellas (Greece). It serves as a useful introductory manual for the newcomer to contemporary Hellenic Polytheism as they take the first steps on their journey to worship the Hellenic Gods in a traditional manner. Review: Great for modern Hellenists - This book is a great guide for modern Hellenists, especially those who value reconstructionism. Review: This is an excellent book about Hellenismos - This is an excellent book about Hellenismos. I have read the comments by some who claim to be disappointed that the book wasn't directed toward modern age worship, but they are wrong. The book clearly states that the views and examples given are what CAN BE USED to establish a form of worship anywhere. Currently these examples are what Hellenic Polytheists may use in different parts of Greece. Each home uses variants of these basic examples to form core tenets in their individual rituals and daily devotions to the Gods. As far as an altar for burning offerings indoors, use any fire proof container with Epsom salt and 91% Rubbing Alcohol and you can burn offerings to all the Gods without setting a smoke detector off. Where there is a will, there is always a way! ALWAYS USE COMMON SENSE WHEN DEALING WITH FIRE. Hellenic polytheism is an orthopraxic religion. There are no hard inscribed in stone rules. Look within your heart and open your eyes to inspiration. Listen to the ideas and suggestions of others, but always formulate rites and devotions that apply to you and your Gods. This book is a great starter book and a superb reminder of the basic practices one can incorporate into their home and community worship. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I found the information contained in it inspirational with loads of ideas to enhance my devotion to the Gods.

Great for New Practitioners
The book is very easy to read and also very informative. My only wish is that there was a hardcover English version I could buy.

A good book, although not suited for complete beginners
A good read, although I wouldn't recommend this to an absolute beginner as it expects you to already know quite a bit regarding the religion. I would recommend Kharis: Hellenic Polytheism Explored, by Sarah Kate Istra Winter, for a complete beginner.

Really great book written by Greek people practicing a Greek religion
I need to read more about this topic, but this book seems to be a 1000 foot overview of how to practice Hellenic Polytheism. That said, I really like it, and it’s a great starting place for household worship!

Great introduction to Hellenismos
Very straightforward with tons of reference material in the footnotes so you can trust what's being said. Tastefully illustrated with photographs of altars and deity statues. It covers a lot of the basic beliefs, profiles of the Olympians (and even some lesser-known gods), and explores beautiful rituals to be honor the gods from a person's birth to death. With lots of history and focus on household and community worship, the book is not preachy or judgmental of outsiders interested in learning about the religion. This is my first foray into studying Hellenic reconstruction and this book was a lovely introduction.

Great for beginner helpols!
A great introduction into the practice of hellenic polytheism! It's important to remember and learn the HOUSEHOLD worship before diving into great festivals or more complex traditions. Household worship is the very basis of helpol practice

For the real Greek
A must read, delves deep into the offerings of our 12 gods. The Greeks have forgotten that Polytheism was their religion, not Christianity. It’s a disappointing sight to see my culture be sucked into an imaginary god, which has overtaken every aspect of their lives. Our gods left their remnants behind, not only in Greece but all over the world, which have been forgotten & deliberately rewritten. A case of amnesia.

One of a kind
This is a great book. Great mythology to supplement with other readings, or even better to read alone. This book gets to the point, and talks about things you would have to plow perhaps a 500 page book to get to the good stuff. There are correspondences for each God and goddess, history, pictures etc... This book doesn't get any better. Not boring, easy to understand, and keeps you interested the whole the time. You can read it front to back, and you can also jump to specific sections as you please. Glad I discovered it, everyone should own a copy of this!

Simple but complete
Written in a very approachable way but explaining everything needed to begin with the home practice and worship. Totally recommended to all those who wants a first contact with the hellenic polytheism.
