Good light to leave on at all times
I bought this about six months ago, and just keep it on my road bike at all times. It's sleek-looking and adds basically no weight. When I really plan to ride at night and go somewhere, I use a heavier-duty light, but this is good to always have there -- I often turn it on flashing mode even for day riding. It's not enough to really light your path, but it is fairly visible for its size. Fun and easy to take on or off. The only real issues (pretty much all easily dealt with):1. The batteries it uses are obscure, and very expensive if you buy at brick and mortar stores. But you can buy generics quite cheaply online. Still, not as convenient as standard AAA batteries.2. There is no obvious indication that your batteries are dying. The lights just get dimmer and dimmer, and eventually you realize something's wrong. Still, mine lasted a very long time, even forgetting to turn it off at times!3. The silicone casing does attract a bit more dirt than regular hard plastic. But it can be removed from the light module fairly easily for a thorough cleaning.4. If mounted with the light on top, the light shines annoyingly in my eyes. This was easily fixed by just mounting it upside-down -- just make sure it's angled up enough so it's still clearly visible to traffic.I also disagree with others' statements that you need to remove it to prevent the silicone from stretching: I've left it on almost constantly for half a year, and it fits just as tightly as ever. Overall would recommend this. It's especially great for bikes (racing or road) where you wouldn't want to screw on a heavy headlight/mount.

Great bright secondary light!
I currently live and bike in an urban/suburban environment, so I don't always need a super bright light to illuminate my way (when I do I use theย CygoLite ExpiliOn 300 USB Li-on Rechargable Headlight ย bright and $25 cheaper than the newer/+50 lumen model). What I really do always want on my bike though, is an easy, low maintenance, and most importantly low profile (for thefts of opportunity) simple blinking light so cars see me. The Beetle fits the bill.It is very bright and visible and offers almost unlimited mounting options due to it's stretch around mount design. I currently have it mounted on my headset for two reasons. The "open" lens design of the light makes it easier to see from all directions than a "closed" lens design (think a flashlight or spotlight - light only goes forward in a beam). That said, when mounted on my handlebars it was a little annoying for me to see the blinking right below me at night. On the headset though, the stem blocks the light for me while remaining 100% visible for everyone else. Awesome. Additionally, the black Beetle blends in with my black headset perfectly so with a quick glance from more than 5-10 feet away it just looks like the headlight is a part of my headset. So far, that's made for a great thief deterrent. Lights that stick up and off of the handlebars are easily noticeable and in urban areas, prime targets for crimes of opportunity - ie someone just walking by, noticing, and realizing it would be easy to steal. If you don't want to leave it on your bike at all, the beetle is also really easy to pull pull off and put in a pocket - nothing to unscrew, nothing to unlatch, just the stretchy pull loop. All in all, a great little blinker.

More Cute Than Functional
I hope that should anyone purchase this bike light that they realize on tiny it is. To put into perspective it's about as small as a baby's fist. Therefore this can pose a problem when you want to strap it onto your bike since it might be too small and not fit around the entire diameter of your handle. The way the light works is that it's shaped like a tadpole, the tale end of the light wraps around the handle and there's a hook at the head where the tail comes around and attaches to (which you can somewhat see in the picture). The material the Knog is made of is flexible and somewhat stretchy. The light itself is a little bit sub-par from what I was expecting based on the reviews I read. Yes, it can be quite bright for such a small light, however it's only effective at close distances, and if you ride your bike like i do, you'd rather know of cracks, bumps, etc six feet in front of you instead of maybe 2-3 feet. At farther distances from it's optimum 3 feet, the light becomes significantly more dispersed and less concentrated. There is also the smaller issue of turning the light on and off. The Knog functions by having you push down on its head to push a button underneath its skin, and in order to turn it off you must click through its various modes. I find the other modes a tad bit excessive and would rather have a light that turns on and off or at least provide the option of going to certain modes directly.

Perfect for What I Needed, but Far From Perfect
I needed a small light simply to notify oncoming traffic of my presence. It goes on my primary road bike, and handlebar space is at a premium with the BarFly GPS mount and cables exiting from under the bar wrap. I DID NOT intend for this light to help me see at dark or to function as a true "headlight."That said, if you need this as a "notification" light rather than as a "headlight" it will more than serve your need, but it just isn't that bright. Also, on a functionality note, there are two issues that, while not fatal, are annoying. The battery is located underneath and inside the rubber housing. Therefore to change the batter the entire device needs to be removed and the light pulled from the housing. This is just an inherent problem with this type of light as opposed to one that can separate from the mount. Second, as another reviewer pointed out, you have to cycle through modes to turn the light off. The Knog Blinder has two button presses: quick to cycle modes, long to turn on and off. This is also a good thing because it returns to the mode you selected beforehand. The Beetle has to be cycled through to your desired mode every time you turn it on.Then again this is a really inexpensive light, and it will live on my handlebars for a long time to come.

Fun and functional! What more could you want?
These have got to be some of the coolest bike lights around. I have a pair of these on the front of my red Brompton and they take on the appearance of eyes when viewed from directly in front!Seriously though, they provide a good, bright light that should ensure you're seen by any other traffic and stray pedestrians. While they are clearly designed for being seen, not seeing by, two of them do do a reasonable job of lighting up the occasional unlit London street I find myself cycling down. The array of flashing modes is also good, and allows you to pick something to suit your taste (quick, slow, alternating etc)! The only frustration is the usual one of a multifunction light - that you have to cycle through all the different modes to turn it on or off depending where your preferred sequence is located! They attach to handlebars very easily, and one of mine goes round a few cables to keep them out the way too - so there's plenty of scope for a wide bar.All in all, cannot recommend these enough, you won't be disappointed.

Interesting curiosity...
Well, the post missed me for about 3 days otherwise it would`ve been a fast delivery. No one`s fault really. However, when I finally `caught` the product the first thing I noticed on opening the envelope was that the light was on! I thought maybe it was the packaging and a few bumps from the courier, but the Light comes in a sturdy transparent case to keep it safe and secure. Was the light on for nearly a whole week?I couldn`t see how to turn off the light. All my pressings did nothing. The whole object is smooth and so any kind of on\off switch was hard to detect. The manual was not very explanatory showing only basic diagrams. Using these diagrams I opened the Beetle and took out the two batteries which cut the light at last. I left it apart like that for a while. An hour later, I went back to it and studied the little thing, like an inquisitive scientist checking out a newly discovered strange black insect. I replaced the batteries and sealed the object. The Light flickered a bit, but stayed off once properly closed. I pressed just behind the bulb area and it switched on to life with normal constant, blink and a slow blinking shine. It worked even better when I attached it to the bike bars to test. It`s small, really small, perhaps the size of a King`s signet ring? The quality of the black plastic is good and it catches onto a more rigid plastic hook at the back to hold onto the bike. It`s a secure and tight fit- It won`t bounce around. The light was not dimmed considering how long it might have been on, but did not look as bright as it should be for something so tiny. I may have to get new batteries, but they`re cheap enough computer motherboard types.Asthetically, I like it, it looks cool. The idea of it I like as it`s very easy to fit and remove. But will it survive the standard rigours of a cycling routine through weather and wear and tear. I`ll update you on that later... For now, 3 Stars.

Small and functional.
I was surprised by the size of the Knog Beetle as it is so compact - although still nice and bright. It fitted easily and neatly on my handlebars. I've had two other front lights for my bike and this is by far the best and wasn't the most expensive. I'm really pleased with it!

Good quality safety light for visibility in low light conditions.
Good quality and nicely designed light with various flashing modes. It's main purpose is for visibility, and this is something it does quite well. It is useful for foggy or low light conditions, and areas that are lit up at night. It will not light up the way in front of you while cycling, but that's not what it's for. Also doubles as a handy torch - and this is one of the reasons I got it, in case I need extra illumination on the roadside. Purchased for less than ยฃ10, and not a bad value at this price.

very nice
very nice front light. it's very handy, portable, easy to install. I wouldn't recommend it if you need something to help you SEE in the night. It is perfect to be SEEN.
