I bought the Bushnell Velocity Speed Gun on a whim to settle a family debate over who throws the fastest fastball—and now it's the MVP of our backyard games. This thing is ridiculously easy to use: just point, click, and boom—instant speed readout. It’s accurate, responsive, and works from a good distance, which means I don’t have to stand in the line of fire (thank goodness).We’ve used it for baseball, soccer kicks, and even to clock how fast the dog runs chasing squirrels. It’s become a party trick and a training tool all in one. Battery life is solid, build quality feels durable, and it’s light enough to carry around without feeling like you’re lugging a radar station.If you’re a coach, a parent, or just someone who wants to prove they still “got it,” this speed gun delivers. Highly recommend!

This is one of those gadgets that I have no real pressing need for, but is fun to play around with nonetheless. My kids love using it to get some objective measure of how hard they are kicking a soccer ball - really makes for fun backyard competition. I've also played around with it measure birds, cars, and other fast moving things. It is very accurate, provided you point the gun directly in line with the moving object. The greater the angle, the less accurate the gun becomes. You may be able to overcome this with some trigonometry, but I'm not sure the exact science behind the measurement technology, so I don't know if this would be effective.Also, an object needs to go at least 10mph to register and only measures in whole number increments. At this price point, though, it more than exceeds my needs an expectations!

Understand what this gun is before you purchase it. If you're looking for a radar that you can sit 30 rows up at a showcase and clock accurate numbers with, this is NOT your gun. This is not a gun for a pro scout, or someone who requires chronograph level accuracy. That being said, for 90 dollars, it gets the job done. As an owner of both this and a Pocket Radar Ball Coach, I can confirm that this gun is +/- 3mph with the Pocket Radar, under the condition that it is aimed precisely. The range is short, but if you can stand directly behind a pitcher, angling slightly downhill on the ball's plane, you will get an accurate reading much of the time. When you miss, you'll know as the reading will be well off. Hitting wise is where you will encounter the most issues. If you're trying to measure ball exit speed of a tee, you need to get on a knee, and aim the gun slightly up, so that the gun will be in line with where the ball will be hit. The battery lasts a long time, and there is no interface to learn, just point and pull the trigger. The gun is sturdy, and doesn't feel like you'll break it if you hold it wrong. All in all it's an excellent starting gun, and if you're buying this for your travel team, personal use, or just for fun, it will get the job done.

Great for showing neighbors their speed in the subdivision. So far the kid whose parents got to see their son go past the playground at 62 mph in a 20 has been the best response to see..

WARNING - NOT RETURNABLE! - No indication when ordering that this wasn't a normal returnable item.Been a long time customer and never experienced this before. I had to spend a good part of an hour online chatting with Amazon Customer Service to get the refund/return processed.Now on to the product review: I had higher than average expectations for this to work. Recently installed a batting cage for our 15 year old to practice during the stay at home order due to COVID-19. Wanted to check the pitching machine speed - it seemed to be in the low to mid 70s based on experience. The radar indicated around 52-55 MPH. A good 15-20 mph low - every time! Our ball player plays at a high level and has been a catcher for most of his career. His arm is strong and he guns down attempted steals often. His throws should be around 75-80 mph. Again - demoralizing - the reading was so low, around 15-20 mph low. He said 'I haven't thrown at 50 mph since I was 11 years old'.Amazon is taking it back, but no refund until they actually receive it. No return processed on the site - I had to contact customer service via their chat system. They took it back, but I wouldn't ever have ordered it if I knew it wasn't easily returnable.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my son that is currently obsessed with running, therefore, he wanted something to help him measure his speed at the track (or anywhere else). I looked everything around, but the other ones were more complex to operate and way more expensive.This speed gun was something in the middle, with positive reviews, so I decided to give it a go.The gun operation is super simple, just point at "something" coming towards you, pull the trigger and done, the gun does the rest. We tested it multiple times, in different environments, even with different people, but it seems the gun accuracy is not super reliable or accurate. For 5 runs of my son down the track, the gun will measure at times 22 miles/h (impossible for a 7 yo kid), or sometimes 5 mph (when compared to a chronograph, is not even close as you divide distance by time and he usually get about 10mph each time). I even tried measuring my speed and it showed 56 mph (again, very inaccurate). Then we decided measure cars (the manual said it will measure everything moving). Again, very inaccurate measures. Overall, the build quality and easy of operation are a plus, but if you don't get the readings accurately (is the gun's purpose, right?) then it doesn't have that much value.All in all, my son still uses it and takes it to the track.Not sure if the gun is defective (it doesn't seem so) or it's just how it works but I feel a little bit on the disappointed side.

I didn't have the accuracy problems others were having. There is a small learning curve with the gun though. I found that you either have to be directly behind or in front of the object your clocking, in my case, baseballs. I bought the case that is sold separately. We've used it at several practices and have not had any issues. It feels like its built pretty well. It takes 2 C batteries that last forever almost. Fits perfectly in my coaches bucket. Try it out. If you dont like it, you can always return it but be patient.

Product work well, only thing is that another person has to hold the gun straight in line of ball.I mean to say like a cricket umpire when a bowler approaches. U can also record speed holding it in your one hand and throwing ball in straight line of sensor of gun but in this way you are not able to apply your maximum force but it works.
