Easy to Use.
It’s dirt cheap and works great! It’s easy to use. I use this finder to get my high quality finder close. Why use both? Because it’s way easier to find your fine adjustment star if you are close.

Great basic finderscope with almost universal fit.
This is a great little star finder. Easy to set up, and once aligned it will make finding a specific target 10x easier allowing more time to actually use your telescope instead of spending all your time hunting for your target. I am new to astronomy and quickly finding out that everything is expensive, there's always something else you will want to purchase. You could easily sink 10k in equipment and still have plenty of other items on your wish list. This starpointer was a pleasant surprise, it's affordable and well made for what it is. I recently purchased a used Celestron 114 lcm it was missing the finderscope, this one fit on with only a small philips head screwdriver and took me about 10 to 15 minutes to align by following the instructions included. That night I was able to bring my telescope to bear quickly on whatever object I wanted to look at. If you don't have a finderscope, or aren't happy with the one you have give this one a try. At this price, it's worth the investment. If it works for you it will make up for its price on the first night, if it doesn't you can send it back or keep it as a backup for future use. It comes with 2 or 3 different mounts to allow you to mount it directly onto your telescope. If you don't have a mount or your mount is occupied you can install it anywhere on the telescope and mount it with bolts. I would suggest you try to find a spot that works best for you and temporarily mount it with double sided tape before you commit to drilling holes. There are definitely better, fancier finderscopes but this one will get the job done at an affordable price point.

Red Dot Marks The Spot
The Celestron Finderscope I ordered was delivered the same day, on time, and packaged with care. The red dot star finder was easy to install on my Celestron 127mm telescope. Also, I enjoy using a red dot finderscope to locate celestial objects in the night sky. When I first got my telescope, I spent over an hour trying to get my gear into alignment. And it wasn't a perfect alignment, because, when I changed my eyepieces, I had to make some big adjustments to find the star or space object. But with my new red dot, Celestron 51630 Star Pointer Telescope Finderscope, I switch lenses and only have to refocus. It is a lot less of a headache when you're trying to set your telescope calibrations. It took me less than 10 minutes to get my telescope and finderscope aligned at the same object. At first, the little red dot was too bright. I couldn't see the planet or star I was browsing for. But I was able to use the brightness knob to dim it down so I could see the object I wanted to get into sight. This accessory comes with several installation plates to help you attach the finderscope to your telescope model. I had to use the screws from my old finderscope, none came with this one. Also included are the batteries, but don't forget to turn them off when you finished using the star pointer for the evening. I give this product 5 stars for the delivery time, packaging, installation, ease of use, and efficiency.

Exactly what I needed for a barn door tracker
I recently constructed a barn door tracker and found I needed a better solution for polar alignment than sighting down the hinge or using a straw. This finderscope offered a cheap alternative that works well enough for my purposes. It's clearly cheaply made, but no worse than the finderscope that came with my Orion XT6 Dobsonian telescope. Thankfully, it comes with a handful of plastic bases and connectors to attach it to a number of different (I'm assuming) Celestron telescopes. I wasn't sure what I was going to get since the exact quantity and styles of bases aren't listed here or on any other site that I could find. Even though I was attaching the finderscope to a flat wooden surface and not the barrel of a telescope, once of the bases worked perfectly, and a pair of #10-24 screws were a perfect fit - though keep in mind that no screws actually come with this product. As some others have stated, the red dot itself can be a bit overly bright even at the lowest setting, especially when used to align with Polaris, which is fairly dim in light polluted skies, but it's still perfectly serviceable. Particularly for the price, I'm quite happy with this product.

Budget-friendly finder
I needed a small, lightweight finder for my Celestron FirstScope. I have Telrads on my two larger scopes, but the Telrad would be rather cumbersome on something as compact as the FirstScope. After doing some online searching, I found the Celestron Star Pointer. Lightweight and reasonably priced, I ordered one, figuring for less than twenty bucks, it was worth a shot. The Star Pointer comes with an assortment of mounting bases, one of which fits the FirstScope well. The base attaches to the scope using the two preinstalled screw posts on the scope tube, and the Star Pointer slides onto a dovetail on the base. Two screws on the side of the Star Pointer tightens the dovetail mount to keep the Star Pointer secure while using. Adjusting the single red dot aiming point is easily accomplished via two small knobs on the Star Pointer, and intensity of the red dot is adjustable by the switch knob. Once adjusted, moving the scope until the object desired is under the red dot put the object in the field of view, even using the higher powered eyepiece This makes for much quicker aiming of the scope as opposed to "gunsighting" along the tube, reducing frustration factor during viewing sessions. Finders of this type are among the simplest to use, even for younger viewers, and a worthwhile investment. Unlike small scope finders, these do not magnify or invert the image, and it's very easy to go from spotting what you want with the naked eye, to centering it in the finder (when such objects are visible to the naked eye). The Star Pointer is just as easily removable from the base after an evening of viewing, allowing for safe storage and transport. All in all, a nice option for a good price.

It Works!
This is probably the cheapest pice of plastic I have ever seen ( it's priced accordingly ) I purchased this for my celestron astromaster 114, the finderscope that comes with this telescope is better quality but in functionality it's pure junk. Now with this new plastic toy all I can say is WOW it works perfectly no matter what angle you look the point stays centered what took me 15 to 20 minutes to find now it's less then a minute. Fyi I did have to drill into the scope as the adapters don't work with this model. Only time will tell how long it will last but I give it 5 stars because it just makes it so easy to find stars and even if it's cheap plastic the price is right. This with the Skyguid App makes the hobby so much fun. Note when I received the finderscope I thought it was a knock off as it dose not look like the picture, but I verified this on the celestron site and it's legit.

Great value for what it is.
These are by design not the best kind of finders, but for what it is this one is good quality. You lose some brightness due to the coated plastic viewing window but it's enough to get you pretty close. Not as good as a Telrad but much smaller, cheaper, and lighter. It comes with FOUR mounting bases, including the standard Syntha/Orion dovetail compatible one. Another is a generic type that mounts to a range of tube diameters with two screws, and two are sized for SCTs like a C8. Yes it's cheap plastic but it works and is super lightweight, which won't affect instrument balance. These things mount using a variation of a Picatinny rail so the extra mounts are useful to mod and mount to other instruments. I was able to use one of the extras to mount an old, similar finder more securely to a homebuilt scope. Very pleased with this. Not sure what to make of the critical reviews- you are getting more than what you are paying for. All of these cheaper red dots are compromises. If you want better get a Telrad or Rigel. Much better but more expensive, and the Telrad uses an uncoated glass beam combiner that doesn't lose anywhere near as much light. IMO the Telrad is the standard but it's too big, heavy and expensive for small entry level scopes. These cheap red dots get you about 60 percent of the performance for less than half the cost. The fancier multi-reticle units are sturdier and are built to take a beating as they are repurposed firearms sights. They have a similar light loss through a coated viewing window, and in my opinion they are fine if you want something that you can beat on. It won't work better than this cheap one, but those will last longer. I have multiples of these cheap red dots, three Telrads, and one of the multi-reticle finders. They all work and have their place.

it was easy to adjust
This was my first red dot star pointer and it worked well, it was easy to adjust. Aligning the telescope was so much easier with it. As long as you have the right bracket to mount it you should be fine, I was not using it on a celestron telescope so I had to use double sided tape and modify the bracket. The biggest issue I have with it is that the laser housing has a tiny plastic rectangle in front of it with a tiny pinhole. It fell out of three times, luckily I was able to find it the first two times and was able to put it back on. I could not find it the third time and now I have a really big dot in the viewing area which makes it difficult to set it precisely on an object unless its the moon. The battery it comes with is cheap, it uses a CR2032. The first time I used it I left it on all day and the battery died. Low power will cause it to flicker. I replaced it with an energizer one and again I left it on all day, but this time the battery still had power. The battery goes under the front of the pointer, you just pop off the plastic housing. I would give it 4 stars because it was easy to use but now I cant use it because that little plastic piece that fell off.

Very good product for the money.
This is a really excellent finder for the money. Don't let the inexpensive price put you off. This is a sturdy little red dot finder. Best thing is the battery compartment that actually uses a screw to open. A slight inconvenience maybe but much better than those snap-on ones that just end up snapping off. The finder works as advertised and is very well built. It also comes with a few different attachments to put on your scope. This really is a high quality item for the price. As long as it keeps working and doesn't pack up I'll be happy. I bought a right angled SkyWatcher viewfinder as well to save my neck pain, but this is a handy little thing to have anyway as it's so easy just to quickly dial in.

Very Poor quality
First one was intermittent and returned and they sent replacement . Replacement had play and worst that first one. Threw it in garbage. No quality control at all. Celestron makes quality telescope but their pointers are garbage.
