The Product Is As Advertised - But Be Ware (Check Your Unite)
The product is simple and as advertised. The only issue I had was that Amazon sent me an apparently used or returned item, which would have been OK if they had told me and if there wasn't a missing piece. The missing piece was the spigot that comes with it and the unit came wrapped in plastic vs a box. I wouldn't have know otherwise if it had included the spigot. However, when I requested to have this one sent back and a new one sent, the new one came in a box and with the included spigot.

Heavy duty, well made & works great with the Magic Arm
The Manfrotto 003 Backlight Base with 013 Spigot is strong and durable, has considerable heft and can squeeze into tight spaces. The base socket can be used with accessories with a 5/8" light stand tip, e.g., Manfrotto Magic Arm, spigots, extension arms, etc. Slip in the included brass spigot and directly mount a softbox, LED or cold shoe for low level shots.I mainly use the 003 Backlight Base with a Manfrotto 244 Magic Arm to position lights in places light stands dare not tread. Poke the end of the Magic Arm in the socket on the 003, tighten the t-bolt and, zap, an instant light stand that flexes and twists as I please! With the Magic Arm mounted, it's stable enough to support a 300-LED video light or small CFL head with softbox.Setup and teardown is fast: the base quickly unfolds for use and folds into an L-shape for storage. Plus, it's an easy carry and fits in a carry-on or daypack.Fit and finish are impeccable. It's amazing Manfrotto continues to produce photographic support hardware in Italy while maintaining high quality and reasonable prices. Cowboy Studio has a Chinese clone of the 003 at half the price and quality (I own one). However, I don't mind paying a little extra for the better made and heavier duty base.Only one minor gotcha: the rubber feet fall off way too easily. Yes, a wee bit of glue fixes it but it’s a zit on an otherwise perfect product. All in all an excellent base/stand but, most importantly, is an extremely useful tool in my studio.

Awesome mini stand!
I’ve used one of these for years in studio and outside location settings, and it’s one of the best bang-for-the-buck floor stands for the price.I use it for holding background light in studio, a webcam stand when teaching online, and holding my DSLR or speedlights. It’s fairly light for how robust it is, and folds down nice and small. If you need it for anything I listed above, stop thinking about it and get one!

Great for backlights.
quick and easy way to add a backlight behind furniture or just behind your subject to light the backdrop. I sometimes also use it to add a lower fill light in front of the model. Works great and easy to fold up and take with you.

Heavy Baby
Very sturdily made... actually that’s the downside of this. It’s just too heavy for what it’s designed to do. I’m a working pro who works on location a lot so weight is a big factor. I appreciate the made quality (will last for years) but just too heavy to carry around.

A handy Manfrotto accessory
This has turned out to be very handy. It is sturdy, yet folds up and is not to heavy.

I love it
It’s great. Held my light high enough off the ground to tilt up, yet low enough that it doesn’t til down on a table.

Crazy sturdy
Have 2 now and they are really handy as a flush stand or table stand with a small pole.
