Mini Melissa Ultragirl Bow Flat

We ordered 4 styles of Mini Melissa's in 2 different sizes hoping to find a shoe that would be comfortable, breathable, cute, and provide enough stability for our 18 month without being too stiff. Here's the verdict on these:I like the look of the rubber bow better than the fabric bow that is also available on the ultragirl's. It's smaller and would get less dirty than the fabric bow, so that's a plus. However, every pair we ordered in the pink/white had imperfections that looked like permanent marker or black scuffs on them. I tried removing with water and soap, but the marks didn't budge. So that was disappointing. For a pair of toddler shoes at this price, I expect more than a dirty looking bow on each shoe. This was the primary reason for returning both pairs in this color combo. I might have kept them if the bow didn't look like it was dragged behind a car.The "rubber" is very soft and flexible, which would cut down or possibly eliminate blisters. The strap is attached with velcro so they are easy for kids to take off by themselves, which is both good and bad depending on how much your child enjoys wearing them. The sides on the inside of the shoes have a slight texture to them (like light cross-hatching) and the insole is covered in the slick, slightly slippery material - not the padded, cloth insole used in other Mini Melissa.COLOR: The prettiest color is the dark pink with light blue bow. They are adorable and match more outfits than the lighter pink with the white bow. We could not find the dark pink color in a toddler 7, which would have been preferable. We did order both the dark and light pink in a toddler 6, so I can absolutely say that comparing them side by side, the dark pink is the best looking by far. Plus the bows were perfect on the dark pair.SIZING: This is why we ended up ordering and testing so many pairs. All Mini Melissa's run a full size smaller, so you must order up at least one size. Toddler shoes aren't available in half sizes, which is the biggest flaw with this brand. If your child is in between sizes, like my daughter is, you are going to have a very tough time with fit. My daughter has grown out of Toddler 5, but isn't quite in Toddler 6 yet. I ordered both a Toddler 6 and 7 for comparison and she couldn't get her foot in the 6 and the 7 is too big. This positively sucks since they are cute shoes and the seasons are changing. But there's not anything I can do other than wait for her foot to grow into the larger size.These do have the slick material covering the insole, so little feet might get sweaty in them and slide around a bit. So fit is important, especially if wearing in the summer or around water.SMELL: Like all Mini Mel's they have the fruity, sweet smell to them. I think the smell is okay, but if you have a sensitive nose and don't like the smell of fruit gum or candy, you will be turned off by the smell. My mom is that way and while she thinks the idea of scenting the "rubber" is smart, but she HATES the way these shoes smell. Again, that's an individual preference.

If you have a little girl these are a MUST BUY. Beyond adorable. I was pleasantly surprised at how flexible they were. I was worried they might be too stiff or ridged. And I love that the foot bed is padded and not just pvc like some shoes made out of similar material. My 17 month old daughter started clapping when I put them on her so you know they were a hit! For size reference, I purchased a size 5. She just moved into a size 4 in Tiny Toms and Stride Rite and these are slightly big but still wearable. So I would say these shoes run a bit small so definitely size up if you want to get good long use out of them. The smell is amazing. It reminds me of my strawberry shortcake doll the blew strawberry scented kisses that I had back in the 80's. I can't wait to buy her more pairs!

These adorable jellies fit my 2 1/2 year old perfectly...whose foot tends to run on the narrow side ( just as a heads up). Not only does she call these shoes her "princess" shoes, she is also so proud of herself that she can take them on and off by herself. She drove her teacher a little crazy when she continuously took them off at school and was putting them up to hers friends noses telling them to smell! Which by the way the smell is refreshing and it lasts...even after I have cleaned these shoes in the dishwasher after a muddy day in the park ! A standing ovation for a product that covers style, comfort, durability, and I can't believe it myself but smell! Amazing! I just ordered a pair of the cat jellies I hope to have the same experience!

Love these shoes and my 2 year old daughter loves them even more. They are a little pricey, but the durability and comfort they provide makes them worth the price. I hate how most dressy shoes end up with scuffed or scratched toes the first time my daughter wears them. The velcro is strong enough to hold them securely in place but easy enough for a child to do. My daughter is very independent and hates shoes with buckles or other complicated fasteners. The material is soft and flexible so they don't leave marks or sore spots. We also really love the smell!

I love these for our daughter. It's her 3rd pair of mini Melissa shoes. I wish they had a darker insoles because the white get dirty fast with the kids that run and walk barefoot and have dirty feet. :) Other than that I love having our daughter in these...they are attractive!

i read the reviews and said that these shoes run a little small and i order a size up, it fits well but it wont last her long. I order another pair but in other model and i went with 2 size up but they are too big for her right now, i only wish they colud come with half numbers. In overall i love it them!! and most important, my baby girl loves them too!

I am trying to decide if I am gonna return these cause I ordered bigger after reading the reviews. She is typically in a 7 1/2 so I got a 9 and it was too big. I received 8s yesterday and theyre as small as they can be and got well but she loves them and they loosen as she wears em. I am so in love with these shoes and the price.

This is the 12th pair of Mini Melissa our toddler has had in a little over a year. We love these shoes because they are not just super cute but also very comfy and practical. They are so easy to put on, she does it herself since she was 12months old. So easy to clean. When ordering keep in mind all Melissa's run about 1 size small.
