You can write on these with pencil, pen, markers, but preferably not with gel type pens.

What's the difference between "tabs" and "flags" other than size? Are the flags thinner?

These are flags with sharp corners. The other product called tabs have rounded corners and I do not know if the measurement is exactly the same size.

Are these transparent or translucent?

The colored tab is translucent. The part that sticks is transparent.
