A scientific guide
Even a superficial perusal of this book reveals that it discusses reparative therapy in depth, both pro and con, ranging from the classic psychotherapeutic to the Evangelical approaches. As such it is full of references to a cross-section of the literature, making it an across the board relevant compendium of material on its subject, one that goes way beyond being simply a biased attack on it. Therefore I suspect that this review is less a review of the book than of its title, done from a pre-chewed and likely “biased” viewpoint of the reviewer. As a matter of fact, since there is no specific reference at all to the content of the book itself, I ask myself if the reviewer even read it in depth. This is an excellent introduction to the topic not to be missed by all gay men considering “changing” from gay to straight, as well as their parents considering advocating/funding the process.

This book is brilliant and scholarly
This book is brilliant and scholarly, yet written in Dr. Kantor's characteristically accessible style. Research is meticulously cited throughout this book and the author himself has rigorous scientific training in psychiatry from one of the most well-respected medical schools in the world---Harvard. "Why a Person Can't Be Made Un-Gay" gives clarity to issues that can help people deal with the personal challenges they are facing, and help professionals gain a deeper insight into how to help their clients. I hope this book gets into the hands of every individual who might be helped by its contents.
