This was recommended by my new avian vet, and I do use it almost every day (about 5 days/week). My Macaws are >30 years old and have lived so long w/o this. They drink it just as regular water (I've tasted it as well, and there is no taste at all). Am now on my 3rd bottle and have not noticed any kind of black deposits at all, so maybe some bottles were contaminated.Just as a note, I kind of object about 2 issues:First, there is no lot numbers, expiration date or production date on the product. So there is no way to know how old each bottle may in fact actually be. What if somewhere along the line someone is not properly rotating their stock? Just take a guess how old this stuff we are feeding to our parrots might be.Second, is the price. I think this "stuff" is at least 2-3 times what it should cost. I'm quite sure that the 4 oz. blue tinted bottle costs way more than the contents costs to produce. If iodine is the main interest, one could use a drop or two of iodine in a gallon of water and likely accomplish the same thing at a small fraction of the cost (I do this for my out door wild bird water feeders).

Has a lot of nutrients lacking in seed mixes. Birds didn't have a problem drinking it.
I add this to my parakeets' water since I feed them an all-seed diet. I know they're supposed to have more diverse diets, but I can't for the life of me get my bird interested in other food. It's like they're little crack fiends once they've gone onto seed diets. This will at least provide them with iodine which is very important and missing from seed (and one of my birds seemed to have a deficiency after turning 7 with a swollen airway)At least my birds fly around the house a lot and burn off the excess fat from the seed diet, though.

A Necessary Part of My Birds' Daily Diet
I have two Lineolated Parakeets, and this Bird Builder has played a vital part in their good health. Highly recommend it. I add about 6 drops to each water dish, and change water twice daily. Avix makes a great palm oil supplement too. Harrison's Power Treats really perk up my birdies, too.
