I’m buying into compression tourniquets
*I’m copying and pasting to review two tourniquets here together, pay attention to which one I’m talking about*In the search for less expensive alternatives to the CAT and SOF-T, I found a bunch of different ones. The two I really liked on Amazon were the RATS and the SWAT-T. They work in a different fashion from the traditional windlass variety, but are very simple and very fast. Like anything, you need to practice and get familiar. I haven’t used either in a real scenario as of yet, but have practiced on several adults of all sizes and my 5 and 8 years olds, all on upper and lower extremities, and most verifying absence of pulses by palpation and SpO2 with waveform. No failures with either tourniquet. The SWAT-T I would NOT recommend for SELF aid to the UPPER extremity, it’s doable with practice but slow and not the one I’d want to stake my life on due to the difficulty involved, that’s my only negative finding there. Self aid to lower extremity or buddy aid, no problems at all. Other wise it’s an easy to use, very fast, very effective tourniquet. The RATS takes some getting used to for self application of an upper extremity as well, but a little practice and it’s not bad. The biggest thing there is keeping all the slack out and keeping the bands as close together as possible. Overall, I think I’ll stick with these. Most of the people at work (EMT’s and paramedics) also seemed impressed with them and found them easy to use after a demonstration.

My go to.
I've actually used this...on myself. Hit myself with a chain saw while clearing small secondary growth maples. Had the SWAT-T in my pants pocket almost as an afterthought. Stepped into the blade and ZAP! Bleeding started slowly, but after a few seconds, was streaming. Wrapped my leg with SWAT-T and made my way up the hill to the house. Sprinkle on hemostatic, add pressure and then Israeli bandage, then off to the E-room.Leg is fine, all is well. Made shorts out of work pants.

Perfect for kids and K9
As a Stop the Bleed instructor and local AEMT I have had to use one of these on a child who lost a limb. People are generally taught to use CAT tourniquets which I also carry but I always have a few of these swat T around as well. This can fit any size limb even K9 officers which can’t be achieved by the CAT tourniquet. These are simple to use and have instructions right on it. These are also cost effective if you can’t afford a CAT tourniquet a few of these would be good.

Added to a Dog Medical Kit
Thankfully we haven't had to use these! We made a couple Dog first aid kits since our dog does Trailing, Snowboarding, Hiking, and Paddleboarding. They appear to be good quality.

Great pocket sized tourniquet! Definately works
Quite easy to use as opposed to other tourniquets like a RAT or a CAT with its easy to use, Stretch Wrap And Tuck method that said i dont believe it gives as much pressure as a cat or a rat tourniquet though it will work and if you need to use this tourniquet then chances are a little bit of pressure wont make that big of a difference. I used this after slicing my primorial artery in my leg with a machete (on accident) and this was in my back pocket and yeah it stopped the major bleeding although it still did bleed a bit but the tourniquet works also remember to write down the time you applied the tourniquet because the doctor doesnt like the answer "around noon" turns out its important to know what time you applied the tourniquet because they need to know this when taking it off. All that said my cat tourniquet was in my truck and my other tourniquets were in the house i had this one in my pocket which is probably the biggest positive with this tourniquet it fits in your pocket and your more likely to have it on your person because of how light and small it is and for the price im buying 5 more.. great item 5 out of five
