like it a lot
The pros:You can schedule it to clean and never touch it again except to empty the dirt.It does a good job of cleaning hardwood floors on my main level (kitchen, hall, living and dining rooms), moves around furniture nicely, and is reliable. The floor never looks dirty or dusty, and there is always a good deal of dirt in the unit to empty indicating that it works.Ihe Cons:It is a little loud, and more importantly it tends to climp up the leg of a coffee table and just shut off.I do recommend the unit, it saves me a great deal of effort every week.

My roomba is still going...
I have my IRobot on a schedule of 05:00 every morning 7 days a week. All I’ve ever done is replaced the brushes.Yes it’s awesome on cat hair!!It’s so awesome I didn’t think the cat shed.Until my daughter moved out & she said she has cat hair every where!!By scheduling my Roomba everyday keeps the carpet fluffy!!I have 1/2 inch carpeting. It’s always neat!!Also I allow the Roomba to sweep the kitchen & both bathrooms lanoleum floor.I love that because every floor in the house gets love every morning!!(No I don’t have a remote)The battery last thru the whole cleaning & faithfully goes back to its charging dock.

Good value, performs well, picks up lots of dirt w/ out running into trouble much
Works fine so far. Haven't tested the pre-programmed capabilities yet. Haven't had one of these in years but this thing is really big. So it's a bit hard for it to get around, into corners, between furniture legs, ETC. it looks better in the picture, sleekier nicer aesthetic. Out of the box I was dismayed when I first saw it. You want refurbished? It looks like a dated model (um, because it is). But it is a vacuum cleaner and it does the job OK. I plan to run it in between a professional housecleaning once a month. The highest end models roomba currently offers are in the $900 range new. And, I was reading in reviews that they are making their products slightly less useful to us and trying to maximize purchases of replaceable parts and accessories like filters. Lastly it is noisy. Anyways I haven't really used it yet. I tested it and it works fine. I bought a new Braava from the iRobot.com and I'm really happy with it. It's very tiny and quiet, it has a dry wipe function though I mostly use it wet on my hardwood floors and cute. Would I buy another one of these? Probably not. I will try a higher model when I get a new one. Smaller and quieter would be my preference and ok maybe a little more attractive.UPDATE: I'm going from 3 to 4 stars. It works, picks up dirt great... it senses walls well but a has a bit of trouble stopping gently before obstacles that are lower to the ground and not necessarily large, like a wall. I need to buy a TV stand and for now my large flat screen is on the ground and it keeps on trying to climb up the legs. If that makes sense. But I have not noticed any damage bc the bumper in front is soft rubber. Overall, I'm not bothered by the noise anymore. I'm very happy with this purchase. The minus one star is for the slightly dated look and the minor performance issues (eg better detection of low lying obstacles).

The Only Pet I Own That Actually Does Some Work!
This vacuum cleaner is like having a another pet, but one not requiring feeding or vet visits. It bumbles around, bumping into things, taking random paths, making a quite pleasant whirring sound. You need to clean the little spinner thing fairly frequently, at least if you have a long haired cat or dog. But, and this is one of the really positive features, the Roomba is very light and can be turned off, flipped over, and cleaned easily. In addition, the bin takes only a minute to remove and empty. It comes with quite an efficient brush cleaner.Does it do a good job? Eventually. It works in a random pattern, so it takes a while to get everything. But it's working and you're not, so it's easy to give it all the time it wants! It comes with "virtual walls" which are little beacons broadcasting a stay away message. You put one in a doorway and the Roomba won't go through it. I wish they were cheaper though - I have a large passageway from one room to another and one virtual wall does not do the trick . I supplement with putting a large box to fill up the space. The walls are about $40 each, so I haven't bought another one yet.All in all, I am actually fond of this little critter, which is more than I can say for any other vacuum cleaner I have owned!

Why is Roomba always so drunk?
I like to treat Roomba like my drunken blind butler and laugh at the antics he gets himself into, like getting high centered while trying to escape the house when my fiancé takes the trash out. When I first got my Roomba, I turned it on and watched it spin in circles for about 5 minutes, then go into error saying to spin Roomba's side wheels. I did this to no avail. I called tech support who walked me through some steps (pushing the Roomba on the floor so that both wheels spun at the same time, this took some muscle) and it eventually worked. They even sent me a new wheel for the one that was getting stuck. Now Roomba works like a champ, cleaning up all the dog fur my dog insists on shedding. Roomba always finds its way back to the docking station and plays a little triumphant tune when it docks, which I find funny. This Roomba makes my life just a little bit easier, which for me is fantastic. Highly recommend.

I For One Welcome Our New Machine Overlords
It works surprisingly well. It occasionally gets lost and can't find its way home, and we've had to deploy a lighthouse in our living room so it doesn't get stuck on a cliff (interestingly always at the same exact spot). But 85% of the time I can come home to a clean floor, a robot in its charging station, and a bin full of dirt and dust (the other 15% of the time things are usually clean but our little robot is lost somewhere). You'll be shocked at how much this little thing picks up: it may not be as powerful as your Dyson, but it runs every day so over time you're getting cleaner and cleaner.Mostly its just cool to have a robot do my cleaning for me.
