Outstanding product
These buckets are easy to install and use. Best of all they can be used for several years.

Well Worth It, Effective and Time-Saving
A couple of weeks ago I had three 15' trees planted in a berm in my backyard, along with a significant amount of new shrubs and flowers. Initially, I tried the "let a hose run slowly for 15 minutes" approach for watering the trees. That was time-consuming and ineffective. I bought this system and I've been very happy with it. For my two new Heritage River Birch trees, they do well following the provided instructions of two five gallon waterings once a week. For my Marmo Maple, it seems to need four buckets a week to avoid seeing wilting while it tries to get rooted. The soil is clay where we live but the buckets empty within several minutes. I also water a new 5' Serviceberry bush and Orchid Tree using this system, but with half filled buckets. With the length of the hollow stakes that take the water underground, I'm much more confident that the water is getting down deeply, which is important in encouraging a strong root base.

Pretty good product gets the water straight to the roots
Pretty good product gets the water straight to the roots. I have trees in an area that does not get much water. So far my trees are doing well.

Very efficient and less water waste
We recently planted a lot of new trees. I hate spraying trees with a sprinkler or hose as there is so much waste with the over spray. These are great, I fill each one once a week from a rain barrel. It is hot and dry season here in the PNW and these seem to be just what all my trees needed to survive the season.I have tried the tree rings you fillWith water and a drip line. These have worked better for me and are way easier to fill than those tree ring inner tubes.

Great for watering recently planted trees in a dry climate.
I recently relandscaped my backyard in Colorado with drought tolerant trees and shrubs. But even drought tolerant trees and shrubs need additional water until they become established. This watering system saves time: just fill the bucket and let it drip. You don't have to stand by each tree, trying to figure out how long it takes to give it 5-10 gallons of water. And because the water drips into the soil slowly, you know it's not just running off the top. It's a pricey system, but less expensive than buying new trees because the ones you planted died of thirst.

Tree watering system
We have bought a few new trees and had them planted farther out away from the house so finding a way to water them without stringing 150 ft of Hose was a challenge. This watering system solved our problem we were able to go out and fill the buckets and not have to worry about stringing hoses all over the place. They're very durable the size was perfect and the trees are being watered at the appropriate rate and the appropriate amount of water without a lot of fuss. This was probably one of our better buys.

They will never be fully leakproof
The holes in the bottom of the cans are too close to the side, so one cannot fully get the spike straight or fully tight to the bucket. The spike flange hits the side of the bucket making it go crooked.I put mine in the ground anyway and since I did I’m sure I cannot return them. Also if the spikes go into a rocky ground it just leaks out…still better than trying to just water that runs off.I’m tried the big green tree water bags… not from Amazon.. don’t know if they carry them… but they lean against the tree trunk and push the tree over. So unless you have tall trunks not good either. My apples have short trunks, as all my fruit trees do. So the buckets are worth trying for me.

Expensive buckets with holes on the bottom but they really do work
Yes, you can probably buy your own buckets and replicate this thing quite easily but these are perfect for those who can't. They are currently keeping 6 trees alive, who are the replacement of the 6 previous trees who died during the heat of the summer after spring planting. The water drains based on the density of the soil these plug into, but even if the water drains fast you know you just gave the tree 5 gallons. So unless you plan to figure out how to make these yourself, these are the way to go despite their cost. still cheaper than replanting trees!
