Zignature, Salmon Limited Ingredient Formula Grain-Free Dry Dog Food, 12.5-lb

One of the very few grain free limited ingredient dog foods without sweet potatoes. This food has brought relief to our sensitive dog with intolerances to poultry, beef, venison, and sweet potatoes. With this food, our dog is finally clear of recurring yeast. A majority of grain free, limited ingredient dog foods, including formulas promoted for “sensitive stomach” include sweet potatoes and pumpkin in their ingredients, and the breakdown of those carbohydrates contributes to sugar driven yeast in susceptible dogs, so this food has been a Godsend. Update…while my dogs did well on this food, one downside was their ongoing hunger…they were hungry, and we were going through bag after bag. So, after a lot of research, found another dog food without sweet potatoes and peas…there are a few high quality available…a few with healthy grains that don’t breakdown to feeding yeast, and a few grain free, all without the dreaded sweet potato and peas.

This Limited ingredient salmon dog food seems to be helping my dog with severe yeast issues. Highly recommend trying it.

My senior dog went through a period where he became allergic to his old food (raw chicken food). His skin issues magnified, he had the runs all the time (literally ALL the time), and he was just miserable - we were all miserable. The vet said that there was nothing physically wrong with him. I tried another raw food protein (venison) and it helped a little, but not much. I tried three different probiotics. Nothing changed that much. Then I read reviews on this and decided to give it a go since it was grain free and chicken free. Within one day everything changed. His stool went from runny to solid. His skin issues are next to nothing now. His energy level has increased when he goes outside too. He'll spend an hour outside chasing his ball around which he didn't care to do before. He still poops a lot (mainly in the morning), but he can actually control it now and its formed. The best part is he loves this food...to the point where he gets frustrated if he knows that his food is sitting in a bowl on a counter because its not quite dinner time.

Good size comparable price, delivered well

This is probably the best *dry* dog food experience our 5-yr old female GSD has had, however she has a terrible chronic skin condition (sebaceous adenitis) that we were hoping the Salmon would help, but unfortunately did not. We've been using for about 6 months now. The good experience for us is she really liked this food. We used to be 100% on Farmer's Dog, which has been the best experience, but crazy expensive. We had switched to 50/50 Farmer's and Zignature for the last 6 months, but unfortunately her skin smells terrible and she keeps getting skin infections. We were hoping to get off of the expensive Farmer's Dog, but we have made the decision to go back 100% on Farmer's so at least she can stop getting skin infections. I'm sure for dogs that don't have a chronic condition, this would be great, and the ingredients seem to be very good, so that's why I gave it a 4-star review.

Our dogs love this food, I mean LOVE it. When we grab their bowls they immediately run to their feeding spot and wait for us. We have fairly expensive dogs and are known to develop allergies so we get a little particular about their food. They also can develop joint problems and have known possibilities for skin discoloration and alopecia so we really try to take good care of their fur/coats. Friends with the same breed recommended this brand, so we decided to try it out. We get tons of compliments on how great their coats look. They seem to do well on it as well, no diarrhea or anything else. Pieces are small. It’s a bit pricey and can’t be found in many stores but I can get it with subscribe and save which offers a discount, even cheaper than other online orders. Only downfall is that our dogs breath often smells like salmon. Haha.
