I used this as a "gender changer" for a power supply cable. I wanted to use a left-over Dell monitor-mounted speaker system on another computer system with different brand monitor with built-in speakers so I could use the physical knob to control the volume. One detail: on the Dell monitor, the speaker power cable plugs into a jack in the back of the monitor, a 2.1 mm jack, center positive. Searching for a power supply, I couldn't find one with a male plug that would match the female jack on the speaker, so I got one with a 2.1 mm female jack center positive and used this adapter to connect them.The adapter is about 1 1/2" long and about 1/2" wide (5.5 mm), very nicely constructed and the connectors snap in securely. And much better than cutting another cable and splicing the wires together (that was plan B).When I bought them they came from Jacobs Parts Inc. I see that now they're listed as coming from Wireless Generics.

I needed a gender changer to adapt my wife's Gerbing motorcycle heated jacket liner for use with a cigarette lighter style outlet in our electric car (the heated seats warm her back but she wants some all-around warmth and running the heater drains the battery). These adapters are a perfect fit and do exactly what I had intended. I was worried by some of the reviewers who only received 1 unit in their package, but this shipment included 10 and they all work. Every one had an intermettent connection. I tried to improve the connection by slightly bending a contact on one to tighten it, but it was very fragile and broke off. I’m just using them for decorative lights so I’ll use them, but I’d never use them for something critical.

Needed these to connect to some 12v power supplies. They work great and have a snug fit.I used them to help power dome old 12v Dell speaks which I connectected to an Alexa Echo device for great sound.

This adapter works great.I ordered it because half of our security cameras used male power jacks and I happened to wire the power distribution box with all male power jacks. Using these adapters was much easier/quicker than re-wiring the power distribution box.
