Loka, Ninja Tune's cult psychedelicists, purveyors of cinematic music that disturbs and troubles and intrigues rather than comforts, return with a new album, Passing Place, An album which adventures through the outer reaches of psychedelia, jazz, and classical music.

Prog rock meets jazz, orchestral, and vocal indie
I first put this album on, listened to about a minute of it, and thought about throwing it in a junk pile. Something told me to give it another chance, so I did. As a musician, I tend to be critical of music I hear. It's not very often that I come across an album that lets me just sit back and let my mind wander.Mind wandering is definitely what you get with Passing Place. It may take you a few minutes, but once you settle in to the warm synths and orchestral parts, you will begin to like this album. A few tracks in, things liven up a bit with a modern progressive sound and thin but detailed percussion. Unexpectedly, well-placed vocals add to the warm sound.I don't know how else to describe it. Textures, warmth, music, and a trip around the world all in one album.
