Wide and flush
I had to repair the plaster ceilings in my dining room, living room, small office, and stairwells. For the office and dining room, I used the smaller plaster washers that I bought at a hardware store. However, they have a higher profile and seemed like more of a pain to cover with joint compound, so I bought these, which are more flush and wider. I definitely prefer these wider ones. In the end, all of the ceilings turned out great, small washers and large, but it was incredibly time consuming and painstaking work.Full disclosure, I bought three hundred of these on Amazon and ran out halfway through the ceiling project pictured. I then bought five hundred more online from a big box store but the products were essentially identical. Also, I do realize that I probably went overboard, using maybe 500 in this one room, but I did have as lot of cracks in the 100 year old ceilings, and I didn't want to take any chances. Anyways, get a good sander attachment for your shop vac, a good filter, and a dust bag, and the project is doable.

work better than the smaller 1” washers on horsehair plaster
The extra ¼” makes a big difference when using these on old horse hair plaster. They hold the old plaster better and more evenly. They don’t sink too deep into the existing surface and cause more cracks as the alternative 1” washers do

These work great! I picked up a few cheap 1 1/4 spade bits and bore a slight depression in the finish coat of the plaster before installing these with some fine thread drywall screws. They sock the plaster down tight to the lathe, and when I get lucky enough to find a stud its like Christmas!Either way I'm ready for a fresh finish coat on some nice solid plaster.

Easy to pull some screw heads through, others sit too high
The hole is a little bit too big. Some screw heads are too small and pull right through, and other “drywall” screws have a head that will require the skim coat to be a millimeter or two thicker just to cover the head of the screw.

The 1'' do the job every time. These 1-1/4 are even better!
Excellent!

Great Product!!!
I have used these and they work awesome for reinforcing plaster, and stucco soffits that need securing or reinforcement! The holes also allow for any covering/patching compound to adhere nicely!
