Chestnut dowel arrived bent...
I ordered a 3/4" x 36" Chestnut dowel to which I was going to afix a handle to use as a cane. My expectation was that a dowel to be useful "for any purpose" would be straight. The dowel I received had about a 15 degree bend right in the middle. I called Rockler customer service directly and spoke to an agent. I told the agent while it would be more trouble and expense to return the bent dowel, I wanted to simply order (and pay for) another dowel if I could request it to be "straight." The agent kindly told me there was no way to add instructions to an order - and that "while all dowels should be straight" I would still be receiving a "pig in a poke." Well, Rockler lost a customer and I dare say will lose many more.

Measure twice, cut or order ONCE.
It's exactly as listed: real, nice Walnut.It's exactly as depicted herein.It's exactly to size ordered.It's exactly as I measured, but only once.It's exactly 3 inches too short.It's exactly what Grandad warned of:"You'll be destined to STUPIDITY, Lad, if you can't remember to MEASURE TWICE".

Round, smooth, and perfect.
Came perfectly round and sanded to about 220grit. A lot of vendors on here have poor quality control, woodcraft however always has great products and materials. Thanks guys.

Mostly sapwood walnut, not heartwood.
Dimensions were good. +-.010" on the diameter.
