New to modern bait casters. This modern reel looks great and so far has been very easy to learn how to use and operate. Looks to be a great way to get into bait casting with a very modest priced reel that performs well beyond its price point.

I ordered this Mpeter knight reel because it was on sale. Im not a fan of baitcasters... yet. My experience is limited. Once I received it I pulled it out and visually inspected it. It looks good like other reviews have stated but when I went to spin it I felt a little bit of grinding. Now keep in mind that Im comparing this to a cheap entry level baitcaster at wal-mart that i tried out. When I spun the wal-mart baitcaster it was silky smooth, so I figured I must have received a defective one so I exchanged it for another one. Received the second one and It was the same. I havent read any other reviews that state this. Im not sure if this is a defect or just getting what im paying for. I have also noticed that according to the parts diagram in their own box this reel has a total of 6 shielded bearings not 10+1 like it states.I will update once I spool some line on it and do an actual test run.Update:I took it out today and cast it several times trying to get it dialed in as best as i could. I used cheap eagle claw 10 lb. test in case I decide to return it. I was casting a 1/8 ounce jig and a 3/16 lipless crank. It was a lot easier to dial in the heavier lure and avoid birdnests. I did find what appears to be an issue regarding the magnetic brakes. Depending on the position of the dial the magnets retract and extend in distance to the spool, increasing or decreasing magnetic friction. The problem is that the spool is aluminum. Aluminum is non magnetic. Now, some videos explain that as the aluminum spool spins it becomes a conductor and creates an opposing magnetic force to the brake magnets allowing them cause friction. I dont know the sensitivity of this brake but I found a video that shows how to test the mag brakes on baitcasters and this reel failed that test. I cant say Im disappointed because I never expected to get a $100 reel for $15. I bought it with the intent to use it as a learning tool, that way if I break it, it wont break my pocket. I still may keep it. Only time will tell... actually 29 days will tell. Hope this helps someone.

I have had many, many reels in my 64 years and I've been an avid fisherman for most of those years and this is the worst reel I have ever come across. It backlashes all the time and the line goes up into the spool edge and has to be dissasembled to fix it. I started with the Ambassidor D reel and it backlashed all the time until I learned it but this is worse than that reel was. I woundn't be paid to take this reel again. If I can return it I will.

As a cheap baitcaster bought it based on the reviews it's all good or all stop little bit disappointed with that but it is what it is it cast cranks it does what it needs to not pretty but effective

Never had another baitcaster so unsure how to compare. It definitely casts heavier lures far. It’s hard to set for light lures

When I first received it I was very impressed by the looks of it and how well it casted. But after just 2 months of moderate use, it started screeching when It casts. So now Everytime I cast it makes this loud screeching sound.
