I've been buying Hanes Perfect T's for years and years but somehow I can't find them now. After buying (and returning) several more expensive brands: Calvin Klein, Polo, etc.) and not liking how thin they were for the money, I decided to give these particular Hanes a try. At first, I did not like these at all since I thought they were way too large for my usual XL frame, but what struck me the most about these were they were the softest tee shirts I have ever worn, including Hanes Perfect T's. I do not like long tee shirts at all since I wear them outside my pants most of the time and I do not find heavy or beefy cotton tees very comfortable at all either. Seems the more material the more confining they are, and the very thin tee shirts are a total waste of time for me. They might be ok under a dress shirt but to pay three times as much for a big designer brand for a thin shirt to wear under a dress shirt is a waste of money. I also can't stand cotton polyester blend tee shirts, not even the ones that are 5% polyester. I can tell they are not 100% cotton and do not want to sleep in those. I have 100% polyester tee shirts to work out in and they are perfect to absorb sweat but when I want to wear cotton, I want to wear cotton. After wearing and washing these several times now, I would say four or five times maybe, these shirts have comfortably shrunk all around to a more traditional XL size for me and all the while have kept their dark black color and most importantly their unmatched softness. One thing I am finding though is that since they are very soft if you stretch them for whatever reason, they stay stretched out until you wash them again. So I've learned not to stretch them at all especially around the neck. I do wish they were a bit narrower in the neck and arms but that is my only gripe. Hopefully in a few more washings they will shrink a bit more and I wouldn't be surprised if they did which is fine with me. Lesson learned, buy your traditional size and deal with their bigger than usual size for a few weeks while you are wearing them and washing them and you will end up with some of the best tee shirts you can possibly find. These are not a slim fit and are not meant to be so if that's want you want look elsewhere. For a more traditional, mid weight 100% cotton tee shirt, these are the ones to get but hang in there and in a month or so you will fall in love with them like I did. I may give the large size a try next and compare them with the XL since I know now that if they shrink too much I can always stretch them a bit.

The retail price on this in store is $24 and I got it off of Amazon for $12.85. That's a pretty good damn deal considering its quality. The CLASSICS (not the ones in like Walmart, those are dumbed down cheaper versions) are really the best of Hanes. They are really soft and I agree with the other reviewer - this shirt really does give a bada** look! I wear it to the gym when I'm working out and it looks great with my basketball shorts, whether I'm doing cardio, weights, walking around....It looks amazing and fits perfectly as described. I washed it in warm water and dried it in the dryer and AS EXPECTED, it shrunk by LENGTH 3-4 inches, so now it fits me perfectly! Before it was a bit too long. And it has not lost its black color. Like another reviewer said, this shirt is VERY light weight(good thing) and its not thin to the point you can see my skin underneath or my nippies. Hope my review helps you decide on your purchase! Very very satisfied. Edit: May 25, 2014 -Shirt has shrunk after about 2 months now -Shirt is noticeably losing its softness. Don't get me wrong, its still decently soft just not as soft as when first purchased, which is to be expected I suppose - I wash these shirts once a week so its been about 8 washes so far. The color is still there, but it's shrunk noticeably shrunk in length and maybe a BIT in girth. And it's not as soft. Downgrading my review to 4 stars.

The shirts are comfortable and I will be purchasing more.

very good material undershirt

I have worn Hanes for decades. I ordered a 6-pack of Medium undershirts (just ordered more) and they fit-to-a-Tee (pardon the pun). The Actual size comes "after" the wash n dry shrinkage. Sooooo soft. Slightly stretchy and, for my money, just the right thickness for an "undershirt". (Remember, theses are NOT your, "thick", colored TEE shirts hanging on the rack. These are traditional undershirts). Inasmuchas it is true that Hanes Tee shirts are thinner now, as are their socks, than in yesteryear, I still feel the quality is there. And let's face it, it is a fact of life that all things cotton shrink. Regardless of marketing claims. 1. Just buy for your actual size 2. I wear a medium-size blouse. 3. The shìrts are a little big when new. 4. After washing in cold water and Drying on MEDIUM heat, they become Spot-on Medium. 5. My husband's fit same way P.S. And we love the white sports socks too! But be realistic about your shoe and foot size as sock sizes are precise.

I use black undershirts for work under scrubs and business casual attire. The one on the left has been washed probably more than 25 times, it is a large 100% cotton comfort soft pocket Hanes tee. The one on the right is the new one I just bought that is the “our most comfortable” 100% cotton Hanes tee. It was literally 4 inches longer before I washed it just once. I should have taken a “before” picture. But here you can see, after just one washing in cold, tumble dry low, it is now the same size as the old one. So it shrunk significantly. I’m always looking for tees that will stay tucked in, and the older ones I have to replace about every six months or so, because they continue to shrink a little each washing until they are just above my waist. I thought I’d take a chance on these new tees, but all three in this pack shrunk a lot! I’m guessing they might not fit after a few more washings. But I’ll have to see!

I bought these to have a few cheap shirts on hand, and they are ok. The worse part is if I want to wear them with jeans is the red "tagless" printing bleeds through. They are also, like most tshirts today- way too short. I gave them 3 stars for being just average

I had a difficult time finding TALL t-shirts in my town. Of course, I should have thought of Amazon first. The cotton in these t-shirts is soft and comfortable. I'll buy more of these. Remember, these are TALL t-shirts. Even on a 'well built' man, such as myself, I have a good amount left to tuck in. Which is a relief!
