Hi/low sensitivity & low temp warning. Lots of function in a small package.
Received the 5800PIR as advertised (not 5800PIR-RES as some have noted in reviews). It is small and works well. Provides option to reconfigure to include look-down too (have to reverse small mirror inside it). It has 3 loops. Loop one is low sensitivity (must break two monitored planes to trigger) for use with pets 80lbs or smaller, Loop two is high sensitivity (only need to break a single monitored plane), and, as an unexpected bonus, it has a 3rd loop that triggers on low temperature (45 +/- 3 deg F). You can use loops simultaneously, so using loop 1 and 3 or 2 and 3 for both motion and low temperature warning (takes up one RF alarm zone each) works just fine. If you just want the motion detection w/o temperature, just use loop 1 or 2 and a single RF alarm zone.

Buyer BEWARE & Understand there are multiple units. Professional installer advice
I own a fire/security company. As a professional installer, I would the consumers to understand the difference of the motions. Honeywell makes 4 wireless 5800 units (5898 dual tec in the 4th motions which I will not get into) and sellers will be very deceptive because very few consumers will pick up on the differences between the units. The seller is selling you a standard residential unit which is an entry unit but at the price of a fully-featured motion. Below is a list of differences.5800PIR-RES Entry Level Wireless PIR Motion Sensor, 80 lbs., 35' x 40' Range- This motion is the most basic one Honeywell has in the wireless series. I would not install these even in my house. It does not have any self-testing features. It has a built-in pet immunity that you cannot turn off.5800PIR Fully Featured Wireless PIR Motion Sensor, 0 or 80 lbs., 35' x 40' Range- Notice the range is the same as the 5800-PIR-RES. It also has selectable pet immunity 0-80lbs.- This unit self-tests and if there is something wrong it will trigger the alarm panel provided your installer enabled the appropriate fields.- The unit can be walk tested with a flashlight to activate it which means, unlike the Res unit you would need to take the cover off. It also has a UV-protected lens and has a programmable low temp alert. If the temp is 45 degrees Fahrenheit or lower for at least 10 min. the unit triggers the panel. It will also self restore when the temp is 48+ for more than 10 min. This is ideal for homes. When I install one in a basement for a client I program the 3rd loop. If they are away on vacation and their home experiences cold temps this can alert them before pipes freeze etc.THIS IS THE UNIT YOU WANT FOR YOUR HOUSE.5800PIR-COMLong range Wireless PIR Motion Sensor 60' x 80' or 100' x 20' RangeThe 5800PIR-COM is great for commercial businesses. It has all the same features of the 5800-PIR except it has two lenses 60 x 80 or z 100 x 20 for something like a long corridor. It does not have pet immunity which is something you shouldn't need for any commercial application. One of the biggest advantages is the unit has an operating range from -4F to 131F whereas the other two units will go from 14F to 131F. What this means is this units operate in a very cold warehouse or situation where people may turn off building heat and winterize for the cold months but still want security.Hope this info proves helpul. If you buy a 5800-PIR make sure that is what you get. If you get a 5800-PIR-RES return it.

Battery Life Terrible
After two years on one battery, started going through batteries at the rate of 1 every 2 months. Not sure what to do - buy another one and hope it doesn't happen again?
