Mr. Wonderful, the second album of Fleetwood Mac with Peter Green in its ranks, followed up on their massive same-titled debut album. Delivering hard edged, psychedelic and raw Blues, the album counts as a staple from the late sixties. Adding to the rowdy energy of the album is the fact that the band recorded these tracks live in the studio, without using a sound board. The album introduced Christine Perfect (later McVie) of Chicken Shack on keyboards and a horn section. Great songs on this album include "Love That Burns", "Coming Home" and Elmore James' "Dust My Broom". Review: Excellent early P.G. Fleetwood blues - As a fan of blues in general, and Brit blues in particular, I find this album very close to the more popular "Trashcan" Fleetwood album, which I also love. "Mr. Wonderful" is mostly (all?) cuts by EITHER Green on vocals/guitar (no Spencer) OR Jeremy Spencer (no Green) on vocals/guitar - backed by horns, piano and rhythm section. Since I am a fan of both Green and Spencer, this album works for me, although I would have preferred to have some cuts with both Green and Spencer together. Spencer does an amazing Elmore James style (and I've been listening to blues and R&B, mostlhy on "race" radio stations in early 50s - when most "white" stations would not play that "devil's" music on the air - when Elmore first released his now classic cuts); nobody does Elmore slide imitations better than Spencer, then or since. Green is a monster on blues guitar and vocals in his own right. I almost didn't buy this album, as usually the horn section screws up the downhome blues vibe; the horns here are tasty (not all that tight but OK) and very complementary; the piano does well on the few short piano solos (otherwise OK too). I look at this album as a double win for me: Green + band, and Spencer + band. Brit blues fans must get this one. It is NOT the later P.G. Fleetwood more rock oriented sound with Danny Kirwan (which I also like) - but it IS a GREAT blues album. (It is definitely NOT the later Fleetwood sans Green and Spencer). For raw Brit blues, it doesn't get much better than this one (and that includes Savoy Brown, and some of the better Yardbirds and Mayall groups). You can find some better Brit guitar slingers (Clapton, SImmons, Beck, Page, etc) but none more bluesy, real and gritty than Green+Spencer. Review: If you liked THEN PLAY ON then you will love this lp - Mr. WONDERFUL is made by the same lineup of FLEETWOOD MAC that made THEN PLAY ON. That band included Danny Kirwan, Peter, Green, John McVie, Mike Fleetwood, and others. This was the band before Christine McVie joined the group and among the cuts that the group play is DUST MY BROOM and other TRADITIONAL BLUES favorites. I believe that this is a must-have for any FM collector and Blues aficionado. It may not be recorded in MONO, but it is a very presentable disc and well worth the money involved in ownership.

Great blues songs and great band
This album is full of great songs you either rarely hear or never hear at all. Dr. Brown is one of my favs. In addition to (Mick Fleetwood John McVie and Christine McVie) you are treated to Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer. I believe this was originally released in 1968 and is the Fleetwood Mac I always loved. This is prior to Bob Welch's tenure. If you love a good rocking blues compilation, then this is for you.

Back to the Blues
Like being in Chicago in the early 60's, raw, soulful & powerful blues from a bunch of kids in England.Who would of thought this sound eventually would devolve into the commercial pop of Stevie Nicks et al. Hail to Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and all the rest of the REAL Fleetwood Mac. If your into the blues you need this album.

Classic British Blues
The second album with the cool mix of Jeremy Spencer as his alter ego Elmore James (he does it so well) and the incomparable Peter Green. Throw in a great rhythm section and cap it off with some horns and Christine Perfect (McVie) on piano and you've got one hell of good time. This line up of the band was short lived but the effects are still being felt today.

Another Peter Green fantasy; a wonderful disc from the dawn of FLEETWOOD MAC
MR WONDERFUL is another disc from the very early days of FLEETWOOD MAC, when Peter Green was still playing in the best form of his life...this disc includes DUST MY BROOM, NEED YOUR LOVE TONIGHT, STOP MESSIN ROUND, MYSTERY BOOGIE, and a great many other tracks. Recorded on Columbia records in 1968 the basic band with John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Jeremy Spencer, and back up horns etc. Christine McVie had not yet joined the band and buckingham -nicks were not even a dream in the bands collective reasoning yet.
