Very stylish; easy to mount. Does put out heat. Not user-friendly. Programming nightmare.
Wanted a low level heater to warm up a very cold north wall in our bedroom. Heat mainly needed at night. This is very much the Boris Bus of the heating world. It looks very stylish indeed, and does indeeed provide heat, when you can get it to switch on. It was also well packaged and easy to install, using the box cleverly as a template. However ........ like the buses, it's very expensive, and the rest of the offering just doesn't work very well. The programming is managed through six buttons on the right of the unit, and a two character 7 segment LED display on the top right front face. For a start, this display is at ankle level with the heater mounted on the wall, so the only way to read it, and hence progamme the unit, is to lie on your belly, or take the unit off the wall again. As the unit clock only has a backup for 24 hours, you will probably need to be doing this a lot. The programming "manual" supplied with the unit is incomprehensible. Forget it and go to the Adax-Solaire website and download the guide there. This is at least understandable. However, the programming mode is back to the 1980's. You have a choice of two pre-programmed selections or "user-programmed". If you want to user-select, then every single hour of the day has to be programmed to one of two thermostat settings you specify, using the buttons on the side of the unit. Bear in mind that you will be doing this lying or kneeling on the floor trying to read the display. It's horrendous. To add to the inconvenience, the unit comes with an electrical lead short enough that it can only be plugged in to a socket on the right of the unit. Fine if that's where your plug is.I think they have a unit with a remote control, which may be better. At the moment, it's not high on our list of "best-buys we have made."As I say - as an attractive piece of kit it cannot be faulted; as a practical and easy-to-use device, it has a lot of shortcomings.

Clever stylish heater for conservatory dwarf wall
We bought the 800W white low profile heater to fit on the dwarf wall of a new conservatory. I like the subtle design does not spoil the look of the room. The power cable on this model was long enough to allow plugging into a socket to the left of the unit. I was deliberating for a long time before ordering, about whether to spend the extra for the external timer+thermostat, however the modes on the built in thermostat are sufficient that I don't think I will ever need to - since the "night time cutback" and "day time cutback" options on the built in controls effectively allow setting three different temperature periods per day, without being overly complicated. A bonus is that there is a 'child lock' button combination to decrease the likelihood of a young child interfering with the thermostat configuration.Easy to wall-mount - two brackets and four screws included so you just need your own choice of wall plugs. There is a bit of horizontal give in the brackets, and the top hole on each is keyhole shaped, so there is margin for error if you don't drill the holes mm perfect! There was a bit of a smell given off during the first hour of usage but this has gone now, and the heater is odourless and noiseless - we have not noticed any clicking sounds from it like you can get with many cheap convector heaters. Also, the main face does not seem to get burning hot to touch, which is good with kids around. If you stick your fingers down toward the heating element from above and behind then yes it could hurt, but it would need to be a fairly deliberate action, and fortunately for us our toddler seemed to understand my attempt at explaining "no touch, hot".Obviously you can get other cheaper electric panel heaters of the same power output for less, but the quality and thought gone into the design here is clear and I think it is worth the price!

Just the job
Bought this heater to overcome a damp problem on an internal north facing wall, arrived on time, in about 3 days (not a prime member), took no time to hang on the wall, decided to go with one of the pre-programmes for ease, so it was up and running in 20 minutes. Kicks out loads of heat, looks good.

Arrived faulty
The unit arrived with the heating element detached due to a poor design and I had to take it apart to get it working. The internal PCB was slightly damaged due to the element floating around during transit. After I fixed the problem and tested it, it has since worked well.I am still waiting for a response from the seller about replacing the PCB

Perfect!
Great product, quick delivery, easy to assemble with some handy guides for hole drilling, and works brilliantly in my (previously absolutely freezing) conservatory. Looks good too.
