Surprisingly good for the price.
Introduced to the Presto by a chamber music partner. I gave it kind of an unfair trial, up against a $1500 wood bow and a couple of very good Codabow carbon models (Luma and Joule). The Presto held its own surprisingly well and I think I'm going to keep it.It's very unlike a carbon bow in that there's a softness to the action -- in a good, forgiving sense. It rounds off notes and eliminates some scratching and crunching. Really nice for delicate music, chamber music. A lot of amateur players -- especially older players -- have problems with scratchiness, and this bow might help.It has potential to be really wonderful playing baroque (old instrument) style with soft articulation. It wouldn't be a primary bow for an experienced player because there's just not enough strength or precision to the action. It's a little sluggish, a little muddy at times. But for a student -- this bow should be considered. It is tons better than the average $100 Brazilwood bow. I like it as a change of pace.(And by the way I too think the previous reviewer is mistaken about synthetic hair, but it's an understandable mistake. This thing is done in low-grade horsehair and comes completely un-rosined. Shar does not do anything to prepare it (given the price, not surprising) so you really have to work rosin into it or it will just slip all over your strings. Use your softest rosin and do 20 strokes, then take a Scotch Brite scrubbing pad and pinch the horsehair inside it and work it up and down the bow to work the rosin in and rough up the hair. Then rosin it again. After several days the hair will be worked in and rosin will stick. But ultimately I think the bow needs better hair and will perform better with it (just as putting decent strings on a student instrument can make a surprisingly big difference).

I love this bow
I love this bow! hair comes unrosined, so I ruffed it up with a nice high-quality rosin and it feels like a dream, complements the tone of my violin nicely. It's well balanced and feels like it was made above its price range definitely comparable to a $200 bow. It's NOT a Coda, but its definitely a great student bow. I'd definitely recommend it to my violin students in the future.

Enticing Bow for the pricetag
I have been a violinist for 15 years. I have used different bows ranging from cheap $20 us to $1000 us and this is my opinion :The bow itself was shipped in a very timely fashion and considering that I don't reside in the US this was a plus. The bow itself was well balanced , easy to control and very responsive especially when used with Pirastro Olive or GoldFlex rosin. Also , for a price tag of $69 US , it is worth more than the price as it possesses the same stability as some bows in the $200 - $400 US price range.I would recommend this item to any intermediate to advanced violinist.

A half inch too long
The bow seems to be fairly good quality however it is approximately a half inch longer than a standard size bow. So it may not fit in your case. Mine has to be shoved into the cushioning around the rim of my lid. At some point I will either break the bow or punch a hole in the case lining. I don’t understand why they would make it a half inch longer than it should be .
